The Question of the Day is a way to facilitate community discussion to help members ponder the unanswered questions of the world that are somehow relating to the hobby. Questions are many times open ended and up to interpretation. Feel free to post your thoughts in as much or as little detail as you’d like.
Helpful Considerations may or may not help some people focus their answer, these are blurred to not bother those who have their own ideas.
Today’s Question: QotD: What newer pokemon replaced a previous pokemon in social culture?
Helpful Considerations: Alolan exeggcutor is more prevalent than normal form? Did feebas replace magikarp? No need for caterpie when there a dozen other insects? Browt replacing Rowlet? Vaporeon replaced by gardevoir?
I also feel the same way about Pyukumuku being replaced by Pincurchin. I just remember being really amused by Pyukumuku’s cry in the game lmao so I took a liking to it, and I don’t care as much for Pincurchin.
I think you could make a similar case for Greninja. Competitive dominance, winning popularity polls, feels kinda similiar to the ‘cool tryhard’ Zard vibe imo
