Western societies don’t understand the concept of animism. In Asia, the idea that everything possess a soul, even inanimate objects that therefore must be treated with consideration, kindness and respect, is embedded in the mind from a very young age. The inanimate Pokemons are a manifestation of this animism/shinto/yokai/tsukumogami culture that is foreign to many of us. > **[Tsukumogami](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsukumogami)** > > In Japanese folklore, tsukumogami (付喪神 or つくも神,\[note 1\] lit. "tool kami") are tools that have acquired a kami or spirit. According to an annotated version of The Tales of Ise titled Ise Monogatari Shō, there is a theory originally from the Onmyōki (陰陽記) that foxes and tanuki, among other beings, that have lived for at least a hundred years and changed forms are considered tsukumogami. In modern times, the term can also be written 九十九神 (literally ninety-nine kami), to emphasize the agedne Accord... They are not lesser or uninspired. Charizard is uninspired ok ? ---

I don’t dislike every object-pokemon. But they have to be tastefully executed, extremely rare and with some decent lore. Better if associated with ghosts or spirits in general. it does help when these types of pokemon are half ghost. I buy it more that way ---
