Basically I’m wondering what is the best method for completing the graded sets in and between ex Ruby & Sapphire and ex Team Magma vs Team Aqua. I scour eBay and try to snipe ungraded cards but not a lot come onto the market that are psa 8 or better. I’ve been completing the Ruby & Sapphire set with 9’s and 10’s so far with only a couple of 8’s and 7’s.
At this point I mainly need the reverse foils (which are annoying grades) and most of the uncommon and common cards graded.
Should I buy mint singles and hope for 9-10’s, or should I buy sealed boosters. And where would be the best place to buy sealed packs or boxes of Ruby & Sapphire, is trollandtoad known to weight older loose packs? Or do you think eBay has enough mint uncommon/ common singles from those sets that can obtain a 9 or better?
I’m just trying to collect the ex E reader sets because those sets have the most nostalgia for me, and not a lot of people seem to collect them as feverishly as WOTC (not to mention the 10’s are a lot cheaper than wotc 10’s).
Any feedback or thoughts is appreciated. And if you have minty cards from those sets or sealed product, let me know!
Depending on how far along you are, I would buy a booster box from each set to open in hopes of pulling a majority of the cards you need, then I would grade them (using efours grading service ). Whatever cards you still need after opening boxes I would buy graded singles to complete your goals.
