I’ve only been in the hobby since this past June and Gen 2 is my favorite era so I started collecting 1st PSA 9 holos from Neo Genesis - Destiny to start. I’ve just started collecting 1st PSA 9 holos from Gen one and have noticed that over all (aside from base) the holos were more expensive in the Neo series. What I came to discover was the pops for PSA 9’s were much higher in the likes of Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, etc when compared to the four Neo sets.
Is the vast difference in Pop due to Neo being more ‘scarce’, or is it more of the idea that more people are just grading Gen 1 sets and Gen 2 has yet to see it’s time?
Consider this. If I have a pile of raw mint jungle holos and a pile of raw neo holos, why would I choose to prioritize the jungle cards over the neo cards, especially knowing the neo is probably worth more, as you mentioned?
If I had to make a guess, I’d imagine it mostly has to do with the relative amount of product produced during base/jungle/fossil/rocket vs neo. You see the same price disparity in sealed boxes too. It’s just not as easy to find mint neo cards.Of course, keep in mind we are talking about massed produced sets, so the population on all these cards, especially 9s, is only going to increase over time.
