I’ve had a few dot cuts that barely/didn’t measure the minimum OC requirements, so I can understand why some don’t get the qualifier. Still awesome cards though, damned what PSA thinks
As someone who love qualifiers I feel your pain. It seems like something that could easily be fixed if they just trained all their employees to follow the same scale and enforce the rules. Seems to differ greatly between each grader and because it is so obvious when comparing some results it makes them look unprofessional.
I’m about 90% certain that 9OC Shadowless Bulba seller is going to list an OC Blastoise soon as a heads up. All the new OCs in the JP population seem to have been added by him… hope yours doesn’t end up as shilled as mine XD
Yeah they show a lot of inconsistencies. I understand that they have a much larger volume to handle now than they did 10 years ago but some of the stuff you see is just ridiculous. This is why I collect 9’s lol
I’ve sent probably 50+ miscuts to PSA. It’s clear they do not have set rules to distinguish between MC and OC cards, rather they have loose guidelines. I have an eevee with the edge of the sheet visible on it that was graded a straight 6 with no MC qualifier. In that same order I had a venonat with the edge of the sheet visible that received the MC qualifier. They couldn’t even be consistent in the same order lol.
I personally consider a miscut card to show an alignment dot, part of the next card, the edge of the sheet or any combination of the three. Cards with uneven borders that don’t show part of the next card, alignment dot or edge of sheet I just consider OC.
Most OC cards only exist because of a miscut during the printing process so it gets pretty confusing when collectors, such as myself, come up with our own personal definitions. On top of that PSA doesn’t have set rules when it comes to OC/MC qualifiers. When it comes to categorizing and defining these types of errors most people, including PSA, are like:
I’ve tried to align my MC/OC difference as close to PSA’s as one can - Picking our own doesn’t help the confusion among collectors haha.
Dot cuts I would be more inclined to consider auto OC territory than MC, however, Double Dot cuts I think should be clear MC grade. MCs should be when there’s under 5/95 borders (I’ve seen several in this category, but personally disagree), no border, another card, or mega back differences.
