PSA N8: MISCUT

What does PSA N8: MISCUT mean? There is no cert number, so I’m assuming the card was not encapsulated.

The card was Sableye from Ancient Origins, probably worth about 10 cents, but 3 corners were normal and 1 was square (not cut). I’m bummed if they won’t grade it, because it’s unique.

MC (miscut) Type of qualifier. A card that has little or no border, or even portions of another card.

N-8 Miscut - This term is used when the factory cut is an abnormal cut.

So they won’t encapsulate cards with abnormal cuts?

If they deem it N-8 miscut then they won’t grade it. I’ve heard people resending cards that PSA originally wouldn’t grade due to N-8 that were then graded the second time around when they submitted again. So it’s probabky a loosely ambiguous determination that’s partky based on the grader you get, as per usual.

Abnormal usually implies trimmed or altered in some way. PSA has the strictest stance on cuts.

Well thanks for the info. It’s a little disappointing, but it makes sense that PSA wouldn’t want to risk encapsulating a card that was altered. Maybe I’ll try in another submission…

Would they grade cuts like this?

Mine was the same, except only one corner was square, instead of two.
