PSA/BGS Grading in regards to Factory Dotting

Just curious as to what PSA or BGS thinks of Factory Dotting- aka those small white dots on the back of certain, newer cards. I’m assuming it’s similar to silvering, and that majority of the graders see it as negligible, especially if its very minimal or hardly noticeable, unless you’re aware of it. Silvering is much more noticeable, but if it is something they decide to knock off, would BGS downgrade points in the Surface subsection?

Totally different.
Dots are auto docks.
Silvering is a tie breaker.

Dots are always a surface downgrade, BGS will give you a minus .5 so you’ll usually end up with a 9 subgrade for one dot if the rest of the surface was perfect.

wouldnt it be 9.5, then?

but why? It seems like the same, innate factory mishaps as silvering. Why is one worse than the other? And is it one dock per dot? I can understand for a big one, but what about the few microscopic ones on cards from shining legends or the select XY FAs? Just curious

The 9 comment is just going off the assumption that surface was 9.5 like what BGS usually gives out for a mint card, pack fresh cards are often 9.5 surface or below because they get scratches easily. Most basic 9.5s that I’ve seen don’t make quad because of surface or centering.

Really? Thats surprising. Surface is usual an easy grade for mine. Interesting

Why? Why is there 5% elastin in tunica albuginea? Who knows? That’s just the way it is;)

As far as specks, there’s no set rule. The more you grade though the better feel you’ll get on defect costs. There’s no 100% but you’ll get a general idea.

Definitely a… creative way to put it.

I mean, I know why we have elastin there. I certaintly hope for the sake of your wife that you know too. But why 5% and not 4 or 6? Can’t explain that one.

Yeah, id assume it’s just knocked off a .5 or so on subgrades, as was stated earlier. Interesting, though
