PSA 10 quality reference

I entirely agree with this. And I don’t like grading full arts in English becaisebthe quality i get is worse than whats pictured ? Quality is poop. So I stick to my wotc English 1st editions. I have only got one psa 10 card from the newer series and it was a secret rare vs seeker. But I do like full art cards.

For rarity and investment you’re better off with the WOTC 1st editions anyway.

Terrible mistake. A 9 oc would be worth more.

Is a 9 (OC) really worth more?

Not really but the way some sellers list those as errors and for premium dollars they must think so;)

Hahaha. You had me believing you lol

That is truly a gross oversight. Haha

Awesome, now I know that some cards I thought would get 9’s will actually get 10’s. This thread is very helpful. I was under the impression that the white spots on the back of the cards corners would mean they would not be GEM MINT.

That’s the hardest part to understand. For english collectors the white shows up easily on edges and corners. Cards could rate 9.5 to 10 on BGS edges centering and surface but have 1 white corner and its a mint. I have several PSA 10s with corner whitening or edge wear (from factory) and still get 10. I have cards from the same booster box with the same centering, factory wear and surface condition yet very few or all will get 10s.

With BGS I can deduce what the grade each section got so that when I submit I have a number reference. With PSA its just centering and corners. If its perfectly centered with amazing corners they miss dents, creases and other things. It’s very frustrating.

Thats why im iffy about grading. Im afraid that I would be either surprised or disappointed way to often…This thread is very helpful nonetheless.

Gotta say those are some amazing high res quality scans. Any chance you could share with us which scanner you used?

Of Course my friend!!! I used the Canon CanoScan 9000F Mark 2

This scanner cost a fair bit around 250 to 300 Aud. There are other scanners that can do the same thing for around 100 AUD

I didnt have much Knowledge about Scanners so I assumed that I needed this one to pull off high resolution Scans. It is nottrue though. this scanner cost alot because of its ability to scan old photographs and film to convert into high resolution images for restorative purposes.

The Epson V39 is an excellent choice for around 100 to 150 AUD and has Optical Resolution of 4800 x 4800 dpi, which is excellent, all you need if you want to scan Cards or graded cards!
