Prediction game: What 30th Pikachu will have the highest pop

Which one? Defend your answer. We will check back in a year.

No Arita reprint or ex, just the 30 card subset.

Kinda optimistic that there will be grading returns by then! I don’t see how someone justifies current grading prices for the “bulky” Pikachus.

Cool thread idea though, will be interesting if anyone can guess right a year ahead of time

The Ken Sugimori one or the OKACHEKE one. Ken Sugimori because of nostalgia, but I think the cuteness of the OKACHEKE one’s cheeks could make it more desirable. Also, they’re the two I want most, lol

Sugimori, people will go hard with the nostalgia bait

Sugimoris is ironically the least appealing artwork here compared to the others, but it isn’t really comparable because Pikachu was different back then (fatter porportions n stuff along with new and more modern techniques)

It still matches up with the lineup a lot.

Top spot is gonna be a coin-toss between Pikomiya and Kandachu. The cult collector following and stonkers will guarantee their podium places.

So my dark horse pick:

Hand drawn, watercolour art, increasing appreciation particularly among ‘maturer’ collectors. Gives impression of a larger art piece by making the subject a smaller part of the overall image. Additionally it shares a similar aspect to 35mm street photography, so I’d imagine it’ll appeal to the creatively-inclined too.

i think this one is gonna be a sleeper hit, considering that pfm didnt even remember to put this one on the list

I think most of the Poketwitter/sneakertwitter users are most aware of Shinji Kanda’s artworks…and will be the one they push the most to there followers.

Okacheke because it has no equivalent art that shows pikachu getting cheeks squished. The rest all have poses that can be found pretty easily.

Runner up is Kanda because of how strong his following is.

I’ll go with the Sugimori Pikachu since it’s the one card from the whole 30th set I’ll go out of my way to buy as a single if it’s affordable. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being the Shinji Kanda Pikachu.

All this is under the assumption that they all have equal pull rates, which I haven’t seen confirmed by anyone yet.

Don’t underestimate the Komiya fanbase.

I’ll go out on a limb and say the Ooyama one. The childlike cartoony style is peak nostalgia for me :star_struck:

As a bonus Easter Egg, the Ooyama illustration includes the weedle from his Pikachu illustration from vending
