What’s the deal with the pre-release Raichu? Did this card ever actually exist? It seems more like a myth or a legend than an actual card that has existed in time and space. If such a card(s) do exist, then why haven’t they popped up in the open market? Is that because of all the forgeries and whatnot?

Dude relax. We are on a Pokémon forum having a bit of light hearted fun.
Why we are joking is this is a divisive conversation that has been discussed countless times. Also there are people who have immense experience on the topic vs others who do not, thus it gets crazy.
I made a video on the card discussing how it’s a dead collectible. Why I chose this term is no matter what position you take, finding a “legitimate” copy is dead at this point. There are so many incongruent stories, even from ex Wotc members, which renders the “organic mistake story” artificial. In short, no matter what anyone thinks, you won’t ever find a “real” copy. Even if someone bought a copy from an employee, there is no way to know when the card was stamped, as the origin story is inconsistent at best.

Just a suggestion but id check out Scott’s (SMPratte) videos, they are super informative to all who are in the hobby. Especially to those who are entering the hobby. As @swolepoke mentioned you can also find a ton of information on a lot of future questions by utilizing the search function on this forum. If you cant find the answer then for sure pop a post about it. Those in the community might give you a hard time but its all in good fun, try not to take it personal. You’ll get your answer in the end, we are here to help those who are just as passionate about the hobby as we are.

I’ve never been that attracted to any stamped cards or at least the ones with writing on the art. Looks a bit tacky. My opinion could change I guess.
