Hello everyone! I am HairyPokeBalls, or Jon for short (; and I have been collecting seriously since 2016. I am active on IG and have been on eFour on and off for a few years, but I would like to change that! Today, I want to share with you quite possibly the best pack fresh collection purchase of 2020. Let’s dive into it. Long story short, I found a first edition German Base Set booster box on a local app; I think it was OfferUp. I had a friend of mine on IG who was looking for one, so I messaged him about this box I found. We contacted the seller and after some back and forth talks, he conveyed he had binders he would sell as well if we got the booster box. However, even though the seller mentioned this, it took a bit more push and shove to make a deal actually happen as the seller was shopping around for other deals locally via card shops, which is totally understandable. Eventually a deal was made. My friend flew over from the East Coast to purchase the box and one binder that consisted of various languages of base set all the way to the gym sets. I, along with my girlfriend, 420ditto on IG, purchased the 4 Neo sets in first edition, along with Expedition and Aquapolis. Then 3 more binders at a separate meetup with EX Sandstorm all the way to Majestic Dawn. When I met with the seller, it was a 60 something year old dude with his son in law who was doing the communication for him. They were super nice gentledudes and I couldn’t have asked for better people to make this transaction with. As I looked at the cards, every single one seemed to be pack fresh, so I asked the seller how he got these cards. He said that he purchased about 1-2 boxes of each set at release, opened them, and sleeved everything straight into the binders. Before meeting up, I did have the hunch everything would be mint since the pictures he provided us had a bunch of empty boxes next to the binders. So far, I have about 500 cards at grading services, both BGS and PSA. I have received about 30 cards so far from PSA via walkthrough and super express services. I won’t get too deep into numbers, but I am always transparent about my sales and purchases. A conversation getting deep would have to be saved for another time, such as on a podcast (; I will say that I did grade the first edition Neo Destiny Shining Charizard and it graded a 10! I then sold it for $19k earlier this month (only reason I sold it is because it’s a double). That one sale paid for the whole collection and about half of the grading fees. Below are some pictures of the collection, however, a lot of content is missing since I immediately sent off a lot of the cards for grading. You can always visit my IG and look for updates on the grades via my posts and lives when I open them! Ill just provide some pics of the binders, already graded cards, and one picture of various cards from an IG story. In conclusion, deals are still out there for you! Just takes consistency and a bit of persistence. I wanted to share this mainly because this is what makes us feel nostalgic, like a kid again. Remember what you got into this crazy hobby for, for pure enjoyment. It honestly doesn’t get any better than this, a forever orgasm.
