- No but you want to
If so, how? Buying boxes or grading singles ? How much are you making? How long will it last?

for me, it’s just a distraction from achieving my actual collection goals. the more time I spend monitoring modern box prices and look at pricecharting graphs, the less time I focus on what I really want. I still maintain the opinion that Pokemon is such a poor category of item to flip, with how high eBay and other fees have become

I said yes, but its more of a I took advantage of it, rather than actively buying right now.
I bought a ton of SWSH sealed mid-last year and its all skyrocketed beyond what I thought it would be at by now. Plan has always been to sell June-July this year.
Honestly I wouldn’t expect this to last too much longer. As I’ve stated before, this whole market is acting super irrational right now based off of hype and FOMO. I may be benefiting from it, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a great investment in the long run.

Its hard not to when everything seems to defy nature and goes up with little effort. Even if you pick a bad product, its not like you see it become worthless

Of course! If you have a Van Gogh Pikachu PSA 10, Why are you still holding onto it? It is $600 for a PSA 10.
I have sold off of all my Modern “stonks” and I am taking advantage of steals such as the Crown Zenith Sea and Sky boxes.
For everything else, I am waiting and seeing what the market does. My graded cards sell a couple a day. I am not buying anything right now accept for things I can justify.
I can’t justify buying anything in this modern market accept for Japanese or vintage.

I’ve been taking time away from the internet the last few weeks so all these price movements have come as a huge (and very nice) surprise. I did think it was odd I had a big uptick in eBay sales. I’ve been checking out prices on some products and graded cards tonight and can’t believe the increases in various cards and boxes. Especially Van Goghs and various other promos. It was nice to see Hidden Fates actually move in price at last! I heard Rudy mention “$500-600 Fusion Strike boxes” and I was like, uh what? It’s like a second coming of Christmas for anyone who’s been holding onto multiple promos and sealed products, and interestingly appears to be happening more organically than 2021 this time round.

Agree! Sold my Gogh PIKAs to put money towards some higher end vintage I’ve been wanting.

I have been taking this shift in buying as an opportunity to consign and sell anything that I no longer want to own, which mostly includes BW Sealed, some XY sealed, and some more modern singles that happened to have gone up too much to ignore. During the 2020 boom I didn’t sell squat, and learned that I missed out on a pretty big opportunity to grow my collection.

I sold a PSA 10 moonbreon 2 weeks ago for $2k and now they’re $2.7-3k. Am I winning?

I thought you were joking at first…wow
Hell ya. all the vintage collectors that are in denial coming around and the sports collector finally figuring out that Pokemon cards/characters are more stable than Andrew Luck, Ja morant, O.J, RG3… Charizard , gengar, mew still in their prime.

Not as much as I’d like to as I actually buy old cards I like and want to own.

the way to go about this to not get stuck being the bagholder is u do basically a reverse dollar cost average (eg. lets say u have 3 moonbreon u would do something like list at 3000 → 3500 → 4000 etc)
that way even though u didnt sell all at the most optimal price, at least u didnt get stuck with what u started with waiting for some price that may never be achieved before it inevitably crashes
