It’s only going up. I don’t think it slows until it overtakes all the scream promos. It will hold above them I think.
Agree I think it’s a little too cynical to just call it ‘hype’ at this point. To call the attention around surging sparks and Terestal Festival hype is accurate, but Van Gogh Pikas have been around a wee while now. Well, in the context of modern at least.
I think the collector/cultural crossover to the fine art world is what’s helping propel the price, on top of the existing colossal Pokemon fan base demand. Anyone who’s even a casual fan of art will take one look at that Pika and know it’s Van Gogh. I’d imagine that there are plenty of art collectors globally wanting a copy of this promo.
I’m not sure it’ll do as well as the scream promos or Mario crossover, just purely due to the relative supply, but it ticks very similar boxes in the sense of cultural crossover.

I do believe that the price movement right now is hype. Once this crypto bull market shifts, I would expect these and the other high-pop modern stonks to come back down.
If you own a bunch of PSA 10s, I would recommend selling them now.

It seems like a lot of modern hits are just up. Pure speculation but I think the increased demand we’re seeing in modern are coming from collectors in other trading cards like sports and magic
If Bitcoin has reached $100k, why wouldn’t that card reach it too lol
Maybe some cards (Moonbreon, Van Gogh Chu) will get the same attention from ‘investors’.

I’m just waiting to see what CGC has graded my Van Goghs, hopefully 1 or 2 Black Labels.
This card will keep going up and it will overtake the scream promos (mark my words).
