Here’s an image of the card taken from the article. Unlike the Van Gogh and London NHM promos this is a reprint of an already existing card (White Flare #51) with a Pikachu stamp on it.
I love the conditions theyve set in place for the promo as well as it being a year round event. Its much more organized, and will surely be well received by the public attending.
I am taking my kids next Friday. They are excited! I am a museum member, I bought my tickets in February, I think. Happy to report back after the exhibit.
Given the fact that the promo card was not announced until way after the fact, I am hopeful the jobless won’t be camping out harassing patrons or workers.
Wow, I really like the art on that card. Sucks ill never have it lol. Im genuinely upset I missed a few of the things I really wanted off the pokemon center museum drop. I pray some of it will go back in stock.
I am a member, so I had the opportunity to get these tickets in late February. I got them the first day they went on sale, but later in the day, and the tickets were going fast at that point.
The exhibition was pretty cool. I enjoyed it and the vibe from the other patrons was good. The kids had a blast, as did my wife and I. If you like fossils, fossil pokemon, or both, you will probably enjoy it. They did a good job putting it together and giving it a local touch.
Everything was very orderly - they really ran a tight ship. They were super strict on the timed entry. No crazies trying to buy the cards off people, which I think is a great sign, and you needed a ticket to get into the gift shop, which probably discouraged walk up people/flippers. There were lots of signs around outside saying it was sold out for the day, even before the museum opened.
I think not announcing the promo until well after tickets had sold out for the initial dates probably discouraged scalpers from trying to make a quick buck.
if you plan to make the trip to Chicago to see the exhibit, the Field Museum and the Art Institute are amazing. I have been to a number of natural history museums all over the world and the Field Museum is one of the best. Same with the Art Institute. You can probably see most of the Field Museum in a day, I have taken my kids twice and there are still a couple of exhibits they haven’t seen.
