Pokemon Wood Block Artwork

Just found out about these limited wooden block arts,I’ve found some older posts about them, but it didn’t have any leads. Wondering if anyone knows anything now maybe.

What are you trying to find out? I don’t think I’d even consider selling mine for less than 25K

I am surprised Pokemon hasn’t had more woodblock prints.
There are unofficial ones by Jed Henry and Mokuhankan (edit: looks like only one of the prints was turned into a woodblock print)

Here is a link to the old Kickstarter page

I’m personally only aware of these two.

As for information of their release:

Greetz,
Quuador

I keep coming back to that $25K number and thinking it is beyond low, but id like others input.

There are 47 golds star rayquazas in psa 10 and those sell, on average, around $40K with one big outlier selling at $16K.

There are about 1700 graded gold star rayquazas total.

So this print has the rarity of a PSA 10 Gold Star Rayquaza, The population is 200 total prints. 100 in English and 100 in Japanese, 2 different prints of 50 each. Versus a total population of about 1700 for the GS Rayquaza. So the ratio is 2:17, or there are almost 8x more graded GS Rayquazas in existence than there are copies of these prints in the world.

My not great math has this being at least a $50K print (probably closer to $100K in the short term with proper advertising) but how much would it take to pry a few of these into the market?

It really seems like no one knows about this print since so few exist and it was at a relatively calm time in Pokémon, somewhere between XY and Sun & Moon. I’d characterize this print as “fine art” because it evokes a feeling out of me when I look at it. It makes me happy no matter what, which pretty rare for me.

There really aren’t substitutes for these 2 prints. No other art I’ve ever seen from Pokémon Center has come close to the quality and rarity of these prints.

Im very curious to hear input on this as no sales of the English version (much bigger market than Japan) have ever come up publically and alot has changed in the market recently. I think its reasonable to say the japanese versions that are recorded as being sold really dont matter. Those sales are data points, but not a realistic indication of what these would sell for in the current market. What would you realistically part with to own one of the 50 at the present time? Cash or Trade, or it can be out of your league and thats ok too. Would you rather own the above mentioned Rayquaza Gold Star PSA 10 or one of these in totally acceptable Mint to Near Mint condition? Sorry this was so long

I don’t disagree this wood block has significant value but this comparison is just nonsensical. If you wanted to own one of my fingernails, I only have ten which makes it 20x rarer than the wood block art. So maybe $1M a fingernail?

What makes your fingernails so special? I might have a buyer.

If I have to explain it to you then you aren’t worthy

He has a 60k private offer from a buyer who wishes to remain anonymous. Don’t ask how I know

In my mind those comparisons are the closest I can do and I was debating with myself if I’d rather have a psa 10 GS Rayquaza or my print, and the answer is my print. Therefore to me it is worth at least $40k, not that I could actually pay that, but for me its a substitution of something desireable to me that has a market that trades.

Im very much aware that there is a big crossover with art lovers and Pokémon lovers, and a certain subset of those people may be very wealthy. These people may have just discovered something that combine 2 of their passions. Im trying to bring 2 of each of these prints in English to market. What price makes that happen?

A meeting with Logan Paul might get that to happen.

Not too surprised, my guy would do anything for the moderators fingernails.

The power they had, the stories they could tell.

Only one way to find out :slightly_smiling_face:

Game used fingernails: locked swiss collection thread, rejected daily crypto spam ads, responded to guy shilling woodblocks. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
