Pokemon reprints no longer limited to standard format sets

Notice that one of the products has a furious fists pack in it.

First it was roaring skies which people thought was understandable as it makes the game cheaper (though shaymin ex only dropped like $10. Tin promo would’ve been better) and the set was standard legal. Then it was primal clash and ancient origins that noone cared for reprints of but it was standard legal so again keeping it in print was understandable.

This may not be a booster box reprint, but this shows that pokemon company is willing to reprint cards even if they aren’t standard legal. If there’s a new 1st gen remake nothing’s stopping them from reprinting Fire-Red Leaf Green EX set 2 packs + promo for $10. If Gen 4 gets a remake diamond and pearl sets could be on the table. Technically they don’t even need a reason to reprint. They could reprint just to reprint.

We’ve gone from “Out of print means out of print” to “Well… if it’s out of standard it’s likely safe” to really no assurance. It’s possible this is just old stock they had and they’ll never do it again, but it’s hard to say a reprint isn’t off the table anymore.

Thoughts?

I don’t think you can assume that when a set is out of print this also means TPCI has no stock of it left. Plenty of single packs just going out to be repacked into future products like blisters. Once they fully out of rotation, these packs going into those Walmart/Target things.

I don’t think it’s bad at all. Gives a steady flow of packs of ‘older’ sets while not really increasing value of boxes yet not forcing people to crack open their sealed product.

And honestly. These blisters etc. are for the younger players and collectors anyway, and do they care if the pack they get only contains Hoopa EX? No. They happy enough to pull one.

Besides that; it’s still legal in extended. We should worry about it all if packs like this end up in new products when they not even legal in extended anymore.

Product images often contain outdated pack photos. These are just put together by graphic designers and are not necessarily indicative of actual contents. Pokémon never notes on bundle type products (tins, collections, etc) what packs will be included as it gives them more freedom to produce the product even if they don’t have a certain pack. Tins are particularly notorious for changing the types of packs included after a period of time.

I would wait before making a reprint claim as it would likely be sold as boxes.

I have bought the knockout collection boxes before. Usually they come with packs that are a few years old. I dont think they are reprints just stuff that was sitting in warehouses.
