Not to derail the thread, and maybe my understanding is not clear, but the law does not ban the games outright but just makes it so that you have to disclose clearly what is inside the lootbox. So technically lootboxes come under gambling laws in my understanding and have to be complied with gambling regulations in both Netherlands and Belgium. Since the player base is not significant and the extra paperwork is too much, the companies just choose not to make the game available officially.
I know the law. It has bitten me in the ass in the past playing MMOās. Items not being available to players with IPs from NL or BE just because of the digital gambling laws. Even while the āgamble boxā was only obtainable with in-game currencies it was unable to be obtained.
Going the VPN way, thatās one step to much for a game I would probably only play during a coffee/lunch break. Since, from what I have heard, it are really games of 5-10 minutes and thatās all I need.
Is anyone else kind of over it already? I am unwilling to put any money into the game and Iām well aware of the strategy behind freemium games. Feels like Iām at the point where the only way to get more packs is to spend money
Iām enjoying the battles more than the collecting, which surprised me. I expect to end up opening the 2 free packs per day and playing pretty casually long term. Iām not planning on putting any money in either, but am using the free 2 week trial to get a few premium items while the window is open.
Iāll continue play casually but never expected to be playing much day. Iāll just open my free packs and do a couple of battles if Iām bored on the train to work.
I never cared to the tcg battle system, but this one on the app is addicting.
I would have never expected to be playing so much during the day
The only problem is to build a deck without good cards
I never used the rent decks so far, only the basic one, adjusted by myself along the way. How was your approach?
My personal Win/lose ratio is very low, I can already tell itās GG when I see random legendary AND random legendary EX on turn one.
Despite that itās still very fun.
but above all itās how the community is taking it: almost after every battle I always receive the courtesy āthank youā, which I always give.
A way like any other to say āmany good things to you tooā.
Im really enjoying the battling part of it. Just kind of working my way through challenges right now and then ive had some luck with random opponents. Enjoying it much more than i thought i would for sure. Quite a lot you can do without actually spending money
I was sitting on standby at work yesterday with nothing but an internet connection so I said⦠Hey! Letās try that tcg pocket thing. I donāt like using my phone to game or play, but I must admit, itās a nice distraction, and I REALLY LOVE the effectiveness of the GUI and UX design. A+ TPC!
