I noticed a bug in how the app counts energies in the battle feature. IDK that it matters much but there are some exploits⊠unless the official rules have clarified itâs not a bug. Logic doesnât check out tho:
With 3 energies attached to Venusaur, Alakazam should do 150 damage (base 60 + (30x3)).
It did 240.
Serperiorâs ability should not apply to effects that count the energy attached. It should only apply to energy cost. (ex: remove 1 energy from defending Mon, removes 1 energy, not 1/2 energy.) I wonder if retreat cost is calculated the same way, and if this can be exploited some other way. Any thoughts?
Pretty sure this is working as intended and is working as it would in the actual TCG. Each grass energy pretty much is treated like a double grass energy in the same way a double colorless energy would work. So retreat would only cost one energy to be discarded, whether the retreat costs one or two. And anything that counts energy counts how much energy is being supplied, rather than the literal number of energies attached.
One instance where this can turns out to be weird is if you have a double colorless energy + one basic energy on a two-energy retreat pokemon. I think you can discard either both energies or just the DCE to fulfill the energy-retreat cost (if, for whatever reason, you wanted the basic energy in the discard or off the pokemon). At least, I think it is how it would work in PTCGOânot sure if the same thing applies in actual live play (Iâm not a judge!).
No itâs working as intended. The ability treats every energy as being double. The way you can tell is that serperior, with its own ability, would only need âtwoâ energies attached to use its attack, because each instance of the energy is x2. Celebi is a good example. If celebi has 4 energies âattachedâ and serperior, you flip 8 coins. Alakazam would do 60 + 30x8 or 300 to celebi in that case
