Pokemon Pocket Megathread

How the heck do you guys all have so many from this new event? I started it right away and Im only at like 12 cards and still missing venusaur and jigglypuff?!

I’ve been spending my hourglasses

Yeah, as @DarthEevee said, I think you start off with a number of hourglasses, which you can use to battle more often (the event hourglasses recover one battle each rather than reduce the waiting time by 1 hour).

If you mean how I have the time, I’ve had a few EV charging sessions where I had nothing much to do

You get 15 hourglasses to start and each stamina takes 12 hours to reload without an hourglass

I don’t know if the odds are made clear but perhaps you have a better chance at the promo packs by doing expert battles?

I’m inclined to believe that considering the three Venusaurs I pulled in a row from doing expert runs. Took me 7 tries to get something that wasn’t Venusaur or Jigglypuff. Then again, maybe it’s all equal and probability was having a laugh.

Edit: misread lmao

You are guaranteed a pack on the top difficulty

9 expert battles, no losses, and still no venusaur or jigglypuff. I am assuming a bad luck streak but i dont think the battle level effects odds of the card in a pack.

EV

A. Expected Value
B. Effort/Experience Value

I dont think it matters i got all mine doing beginner. Venusaur was my first pull and then its been greninja overload. Its not everytime but pretty often i get a pack or at least something

This is the thought that I had. Of course there are odds you can get a pack after a victory but it is not always the case.
@DarthEevee mentioned it was 100% at expert but I’m not sure how that can be proven.
After getting a pack on all (if not almost all) expert victories, I tried something someone suggested by auto battling beginner to get an easy win.

Now I rarely get a pack and will never return to beginner.

I don’t think we know the actual odds of getting a pack after a win at the different teirs, but it is safe to say expert has higher odds than beginner.

So people can datamine the app, but also statistics. Imo it’s never worth it to grind beginner.

A new form of pain has been discovered! Experts are calling it ā€œgrinding for one promo in multiple languages.ā€

I got my secret immersive Mew this past weekend. The visuals remind me of a PokƩmon Tales book, really cute stuff.

@xileets The obvious answer is A. My ā€œEV (expected value) charging sessionsā€ are basically chunks of time I block off to determine whether I should add more GameStop stock to my portfolio to increase my expected value gains when GameStop inevitably goes to the moon again.

@circlehunter Oh right, there’s a Haunter promo to all-language hunt for! I think the all-language hunt is a fun way to use the app, but I haven’t found a card I’d like to collect all languages for yet (waiting for the Hoppip line to release!).

I accidentally wonder-pulled a JP meowth. It’s kinda cool.
What languages are there presently?

I don’t know all the languages, but there seems to be nine. @Metapod_museum shows Metapod in all nine languages in his Instagram post.

Per GameRant the odds of getting a promo pack are:

  • Beginner: ~50%
  • Intermediate: ~65%
  • Advanced: ~80%
  • Expert: 100%

I’m not positive if these odds are 100% accurate, but they match my rough experience so far.
