Pokemon Club Variant (2019-2020) with Play Stamp

Hi everyone, I’m making a seperate post from this topic to document the existence of these so-called “Pokemon Club” variant (according to TCG Collector). They are Pokemon cards with the play stamp that came out before Prize Pack was a thing.

The photo above is all the cards that have the “Pokemon Club” tag variant. (RH=Reverse Holo, H=Cosmos Holo)

  • The ones crossed out are easily found on TCG Player or eBay.

  • The rest are somewhat hard to come by or never been seen before, not until recently.

After talking with direct source, the owner of the cards below, here what I have gathered:

These appear to be a set of 6 Pokémon promo cards that were given out at his high school in California, where there was a Pokémon Club program in 2020, but then COVID happened and the program got shutdown shortly. The cards were handed out directly to club members — roughly 10 students — with each member receiving one of each card in the set.

I suspect there are more stock sitting somewhere (from other club members, and no chance pokemon only printed a handful of these cards) but not sure why there’s no info on these whatsoever from the Internet.

While they exist in the TCG Collector Data, seller tried to submit the Gengar and Charizard to PSA but they didn’t grade the cards for him and sent back with the reason being “no specific info, no grade, no charge”.

From the set, the ones more available are the Alcremie, Drednaw and Pikachu. There are also some events that were giving out these cards to the public, according to @Quuador :
Thanks for the info! Always love to learn new things like this.
Now I know of three different places the Pikachu, Drednaw, and Alcremie originated from.
For completeness, the other two are:

Additional Info from direct source/owner of these cards:
Starter Trio were also given out at Worlds 2022 in London.
Dragapult evolution line was also given out through his Pokemon Club Program at his high school.
All are rare to come by too. Pics below.

*Edit: Trio starters and Dragapult evo line were also given out starting last year from the Pokemon Library Club, not strictly back in 2020.

Thank you to @badedyr @Quuador and @calcsucks for the knowledge in this post. Hopefully this helps whoever is looking for any of these cards in the future.

Best regards,
Balloon Gengar

Some more information from a recent Reddit thread - OP received a sealed pack of the Dreepy evo line (Dreepy, Drakloak and Dragapult RH promos) handed out at a trade show (GAMA Expo 2024) by what sounds to be TPCi reps - According to the list of exhibitions that year, TPCi was there (though this link might be the booth for 2025’s expo, the official website doesn’t seem to keep logs of previous years’ attendees and this is from Wayback Machine in late 2024), corroborated by other articles’ photos of what was at the booth that year.

The Pokemon Club at libraries and schools looks to be trying to start back up - information for those instituions & info about signing up is here. Who knows if these new clubs will be handing out these same promos, or new ones entirely? The whole thing is rather new, and no specific information about what will be provided in the club kits is present, only listing “materials, resources, scaffolded activities, and prizing” - prizing being the keyword here, which likely means prize packs and promos.

In any case, the photos and responses in the threads corroborate this card’s existence beyond the one seller on ebay I was able to find. I had my doubts that they were real cards given that they were the only source, especially for prices - I am interested in the Dreepy line’s cards for sure, but with so little price data online, how can I in good conscience drop 1200 dollars for them, when it could be a common club promo that might start getting handed out like candy in the next couple of months?

It’d be super helpful if someone working at a library or school who has taken part in setting up these programs could provide some insight. I sent my local ALA-registered library a message to see if they have any plans to get the club set up at their location. Worst case, they will have a new event idea, best case they have plans already and can maybe provide us with some more concrete information. It is maddening how little information there is about these cards outside of one-off testimonials of the card’s owners!

Nice, thank you for the additional info
This is why I want to make an official thread like this for others to contribute, we cannot let these cards be a myth, we were able to dig up info on bunch of old vintage cards released decades ago, these are all modern, we cannot let this slide lol

Hello, i was looking for more information about Sirfetch’d and the so-called “Pokémon Club” variant. After a long long online search i stumbled upon this website and thread. That photo is the first proof for me that it actually exists. Has there since then been more information? Or even listings anywhere?? im trying to master the farfetch’d family and i feel like i should include it now that i know it exists… if not, thanks for at least showing the pic (hope better pics will surface). sorry for not contributing anything

Edit:
ok i found a listing on ebay (CRAZY PRICE) with a very nice picture

This is my listing  I do have offers on but there’s no data for these stamps, but willing to work with someone interested. Every time I see gengar or charizard variations pop up they almost seem to double each time so I have not seen what these actually should be priced at.

If you haven’t already obtained one there seems to be at least one a week added on eBay. Downside is sellers seem to keep upping the price everytime one is sold :upside_down_face:
