@koala Thank you for continually posting such comprehensive updates to this topic. I really appreciate how you’re posting the cards, the artists, and references to their other work. You single handedly sparked my interest in this set and it’s the posts you’re making here that have kept my enthusiasm up.
At this point I’m going to buy packs and open this set for the joy of it.

God this set looks boring, and that’s coming from a diehard 1stgen4eva philistine. There’s so many angles they could have approached this set from, incorporating the original star holofoil (if the intent was to stay in line with original card styling), or working full art variants of originals in there, or classic ex card styling, etc.

Idk I think it’s too early to say as the best arts have yet to be revealed.
It wasn’t - new era, new cards, new mechanics, new take on 1st gen, new artists making their mark & the first series of complete artist evolution lines in a set since HGSS. We’re also only seeing the regular cards of the main set, there are still Art Rares, Special Art Rares (Pokémon & Supporter) and gold cards to be revealed
At the end of the day, it’s a Scarlet & Violet set consistent with previous releases of this year

I’ll 100% change my opinion if the rest of the set reveal offers up something special stylistically, though I know that’s subjective. I mean don’t get me wrong, there are fantastic pieces of art in some of the already-revealed cards, it’s just the set as a whole so far hasn’t wowed me yet.
