I pulled a number of awesome quality reverse energies from my CoL packs, and I was wondering whether it is worth it to grade them? They are looking like PSA 10 quality, but I don’t have any evidence on eBay of them selling for respectable prices.
I’m right now contemplating between selling them raw, storing them for a long time, or selling them… Any thoughts?
Those energies will always be one of the crown jewels of the energy world because to my knowledge that was the era popularity in playing the game started to increase and they were the bling people looked for in their decks, so this destroyed a good population of NM/M versions. Add the rarity to pull one and we arrive at today’s prices.
I cant speak for grading because I have never and dont want too but I think the value will only increase over time as collecting energies (especially holo foil variants) specifically is increasing with the release of the new secret rares and these are old school desirable cards and they depict certain pokemon which makes them different from say Holon Phantoms or Power Keepers. Although its a niche collection if your looking to get the best value, hold onto them for as long as possible.
I would probably just try to earn a premium for them ungraded.
Cards that aren’t Pokemon really struggle to garner value as collectibles in the long run. And that holds true even when they’re amazing. Take Lucky Stadium, for example. That artwork is insane. The NYPC logo on top of the building. Charizard AND Pikachu flying together. Like, you can’t beat that stuff. It earned pitiful values for years and even now has “boomed” to $100. And that boils down to artwork being less important than concepts to collectors. As a kid, getting a trainer or energy was a dud. That perspective persists and affects modern collectible values.
All that to say: I have a hard time imagining Call of Legends energies exceeding their value to players if slabbed and made exclusively useful to collectors. Even though they’re by far the coolest energies every produced.
Don’t do it. These sell for high numbers because players use them in their decks. Can’t put a PSA graded card in your deck.

You should research vintage Magic. This scenario exists and is, indeed, hilarious.
I have all the energies sitting right now ungraded. Not sure what to do with them. Like the SL im just waiting to see what the price trend of this set does.
