Many of these same haters feel the same about you and your crypto. You should be able to buy what you want with your own money without being criticized by jealous losers.
@garyis2000 there is a big difference between someone going out and buying something and someone buying something because they are being told “buy this before it’s too late because we’re going to the moon”. Especially if/when there is confusion about whether or not the proceeds go to charity.
Man, $1k Evolutions boxes seem like a steal compared to NFTs lol. Hell, they make $5k PSA 9 Base Unlimited Charizards seem like a steal, too.
Here’s the issue: a collectible will never be successful over the long-term unless collector demand continuously outstrips speculator demand. We can argue about whether or not certain subcategories of the Pokemon card market are driven primarily by speculators. But there’s not even an argument to be had with NFTs – it’s an obvious and uncontroversial truth that speculator demand outstrips collector demand. And this has been the case since the start.
I wouldn’t touch $1k Evolutions boxes with a 10-foot pole. But I wouldn’t touch NFTs with a 100-foot pole.
Well why else would you criticize people for doing what makes them happy with their own money? How about instead of knocking them and the process, come up with a better process that will be acceptable to you on how to spend their money?
Not everybody is as good at handling money as you. There are a lot of impressionable people out there getting in serious trouble by jumping on these kind of hype stuff. It’s very safe to assume that people like Our favorite amateur boxer and his management know that and therefore ‘prey’ on them for their own benefit. This can be seen as immoral.
And there’s donut shops with people dying from obesity every day,
And there’s casinos where some people lose everything.
And there’s liquor departments where some people abuse and die.
And there’s auto dealerships that sell cars that kill.
Virtually there’s gamers who go deep into debt buying swords and whatever.
Yes, some people spend too much on everything so just shut everything down. We’ll all live under the slipping jimmy or gottaketchum agenda because they think we all must give up sweets or gambling or drinking or cars or gaming just because a few can’t deal with them.
@garyis2000 : how does any of that make it ethical to lure your devoted followers into a glorified Ponzi scheme? Because that’s all NFTs are right now. They are a totally unproven concept.
For better or for worse, people listen to celebrities. And celebrities should be more responsible with their rhetoric around NFTs. It’s fine for a celebrity to sell NFTs. But it’s ethically questionable to try to persuade people to buy it under the guise of ‘investing.’
Rhetoric? Have you ever listened to a rap song? Put those on your ban list too.
Blame others is easy. Personal responsibility is too much to ask. Honestly, I feel sorry for those above.
So as long as it benefits your friends yourself and your charity it’s all good no matter how many pigs get led to the slaughter lol.
it was definitely one thing to see all these folks joke on the Pokemon train and sell their audience on it now it’s nfts and cryptos I just can’t wait to see what the next thing all these influencer, celebrities, musicians find next to sell to their audience as the next big investment to join before it’s too late
Are the donut shops advertising as fat free zero calorie weight loss donuts?
The casinos certainly are advertising based off potentially becoming big winners so that is actually a good analogy.
10-20 years ago alcohol advertising was a lot more prevalent and I think a lot of that has gone away for the most part.
I’m generally fine with live and let live. I sold $500+ common cards that I didn’t believe in over the past several months… but I didn’t confuse anyone about whether or not I was going to donate any of the proceeds to charity and I didn’t tell everyone to buy them quick because they were going to $10k. I actually did a couple interviews where I straight up people not to buy those from my eBay… that I have a lot better offerings to check out that actually will be likely to go up lol
Has anybody ever heard of the milgram experiment? A lot of people will do a lot of things if they think they’re being told to by an authority figure. And today’s world and influencer wields nearly the same amount of pressure that someone in a previous traditional authoritative role would wield.
I think there’s a potential behind nft’s and crypto. However, it feels like nfts are being abused by artists and influencers
I haven’t blamed anyone. All I’m saying is that celebrities are probably better off not marketing NFTs are “investments” since we have zero clue if NFTs are investible. Celebrities have a lot of influence; their words hold a lot of weight for many people. I’m arguing that celebrities should market NFTs more responsibly.
Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. I’m just concerned about you. Those who feel the need to tell others what to say or do are normally the ones who object to getting cancelled or controlled themselves.
How about live and let live and lose the need to instruct others how to live their own lives.
In a nut shell: I’ll do what I want and you can do what you want, and let’s accomplish that without criticism.
That was a really good interview. there’s been so much information that I’ve learned from interviews with collectors like yourself and a lot of interviews that Pokemon radar has. I’ve been able to make even more money with Pokemon by listening to those stories.
