According to this amazing post on e4 about the Pokémon Hanafuda cards, Nintendo’s first released product was a set of such cards. To celebrate this part of their history, they released two Pokémon-themed sets of Hanafuda cards in 2013 and 2016. These cards are well-known in Japanese culture and are used to play various games.
The artwork on these little cards is amazing and stunningly beautiful. I especially like the harmonious color schemes as well as the colors extending beyond the outlines of the actual Pokémon, which gives each piece an artistic touch with a unique appearance. The combination of warm colors and attention to detail is remarkable. I love having this little gem as part of my collection.
