Pokemon has released official images for most of the ex era cards on their website which looks like these:
Any idea if there has ever been released images in the same style of the ex era black star promos?
Also, any idea why images like Articuno ex, Zapdos ex and Moltres ex is missing from the Fire red leaf green set?
Maybe because the legendary birds were tin promos
They are different cards. The tin promos were translations of Japanese PLAY promos. The birds in EX-FRLG are completely different cards with a shatterfoil effect.
@Zarge not sure why the Pokemon TCG Database on the website only contains regular set cards and not promos/other releases.
Regarding the FRLG Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, I’m assuming they’re not included as they are Secret Rares. Back in the day the whole point of this rarity was for kids to be able to pull cards that no one knew existed out of packs or booster boxes. The Celebi ex from Unseen Forces, Rocket’s Raikou ex from Deoxys, etc also do not appear in the database.
Weird for TPC to retain this ‘secrecy’ so many years later, but yeah 
Pop series cards are also in the database, which is a promotional set.
But yes, looks like atleast some of the secret rares, and all promos that came in tins are missing.
Weird, I searched for it but it didn’t show up for me
Edit: the Celebi appears when I filter by Unseen Forces grass types, but not when I filter by Unseen Forces ex cards. So I guess consistency of the metadata/classification isn’t perfect in the database
