My comment was meant as a tongue-in-cheek summation of my thoughts on the current state of these cards and the reasonable doubt many still have.
Essentially, the people I’m referring to—yourself included—who have publicly disclosed purchasing these cards, would not have done so without thoughtful examination and analysis, as well as enough confidence to spend a substantial amount of money on them. That’s not to say there isn’t risk or lingering doubt—of course there is. Nor do I believe anyone aside from Akabane can claim with 100% certainty that these cards are absolutely authentic. Obviously, everyone should do their research and know what they’re getting into beforehand. But all signs point to the obvious, undramatic answer, that they are what they claim to be.
This is a very nice flowchart of the events that took place surrounding the prototypes (I should note validating this information would be helpful - for what it’s worth, from what I’ve experienced, the timeline of events is accurate - the chart also addresses the pieces of information I was missing pretty fluidly - whether those are accurate remains to be seen):
Edit: most current information updated on IG: @wataru_pokemon
So what exactly is the evidence that there are other original sources other than Akabane? There’s clearly a network of people involved but they all tie back to Akabane
There might be other sources than Akabane (for instance other big names at the time). Who knows.
The concerning part is that among those japanese people there’s someone literally known for scamming. When you add that to the equation, knowing that not everyone met Akabane to do business, and considering that these cards are easy to fake… I wouldn’t say that all copies on the market are reliable.
Agreed that other people like Milky Isobe and Pkonno could have copies. But as of now, I don’t know of anyone else’s involvement outside of Akabane. Also I would say zero copies are truly “reliable”. Part of the nature of things that were never meant to be on the secondary market.
Was anyone just present for that rare candy auction block?? 2/3 of the way through the auction they pushed all of them out another 24 hours I’m assuming due to disappointing finishing prices. How is that ok to do especially after people won auctions, including myself. Now, for the cards that were won, it says I am in the lead with 24 hours left…
Yea I agree, it’s not just the prototype cards but the deceptive business practices at play here. People bid their max bids because the auction was to end tonight. Now the auction has been extended 24 hours and they have not removed the max bids placed. If that is not illegal it is extremely shady and only further taints the release, sale and story of these cards.
Z&G is also auctioning a bunch of playtests for this Sunday’s auction block. I believe this is the first time these have been auctioned on ebay so will be interesting to see where these end up (and how much shilling will take place).
