So as I close in on my psa shadowless base set I’ve been trying to think of what set I want to collect next. I love collecting sets as it feels line it’s a very structured goal. I can’t decide so I’m going to open up a poll and see what Efour thinks.
Shadowless/No Symbol/3rd print is a very cool way to ensemble a “first three” rare set, maybe that’s a goal to work towards?
On the other hand, ex could provide a nice change of pace, the big Kanto hitters but very different looking cards. I know you’ve mentioned the set before.

FRLG ex are a great set and I think would compliment your shadowless base nicely with FRLG being the ex era kanto themed set. Both sets together can show the evolution of card designs/rarity throughout the eras with a kanto theme.

I’m working on a Jungle no symbol set and it’s been a lot of fun hunting them down.
I voted neo shinings but after reading this that’s something that would be awesome to see, never really thought of it but all the first sets have a niche version and combining them would be such a cool way of preserve pokemon history
Jungle No Symbol holos are still quite affordable at this time and so I would consider those for sure. They still seem a bit underrated and they look great without all the extra symbols.
Neo Destiny 1st Shinings are great, but definitely expensive and getting harder to track down at times. I would probably go for Charizard first if you can.

I voted for FireRed LeafGreen. It’s an incredible set and so much more interesting than a Jungle card missing a symbol, Neo Destiny Shinings, or a different copyright date.
Honestly can’t go wrong with any of those options! I voted for the Neo shinings, mainly because it’s normally a good idea to get the most expensive out of the way first (though that really depends on what grades you’re looking for, as prices of certain cards within each of these sets can see a lot more divergence at PSA 10). God damn though, some of these no symbol Jungle holos are ridiculously cheap sub-PSA 10, so if you’d be happy with a set at PSA 8-9 that would be a relatively quick box to tick! When all’s said and done, relative to the last 3 years it’s a buyer’s market and a great time to complete any of these sets.
I voted for FRLG ex because the addition of a first edition stamp or other minor text change doesn’t really mean all that much to me.
While I am extremely partial to Neo Destiny, I do really like the idea of chasing the variants of the first 3 sets. No symbol is something I think is super cool and as others have said, it’s ridiculous how affordable they are, haha.
While I think FRLG EXs are the most appealing option, Jungle no symbols would provide more continuity with your shadowless set imo.

The no symbol jungle resonates with me because jungle was probably my favorite as a child. All are great options though!
I went no symbols as I love error cards and these are fairly affordable relative to the other options. However, Neo Destiny holos would be my main choice if it were an option. I absolutely love them.
I missed the poll but am strongly in the FRLG camp! The original silver border ex’s are stunning, and if you complete the ex set you could expand to reverse holos from the same set to complement!
Agree with previous points made that FRLG would be more interesting than some of the other options, but I will admit that I am biased since I’m a 1997 baby who grew up with ex-series
