this is really cool and makes a lot of sense.

Oddish from Ruler of the Black Flame was revealed. illus. by Midori Harada and I think this is her 1st card in the scarlet and violet era.
with this Oddish Harada has now done the whole Kanto Oddish line (Oddish, Gloom and Vileplume) during her time in the Pokemon tcg which is cool
also Gloom illus by Haru Akasaka and Bellosson illus. by sui were revealed

The final would-be SAR Pokémon ex of this set, making it 2 SAR of each type (tera ex, regular ex & Supporter)
illus. Toshinao Aoki
This will be the 133/108 slot

Bonsly gets its 4th card in the TCG, a first since DP1 Space-Time Creation in 2006
A good indication that baby forms no longer require certain conditions to be in sets

Maybe I have an unpopular opinion here, but I think this is awful. Since when is a Penguin with a block of ice for a head and a candle shooting fire out the top considered a Pokemon?

Ninetales has so many great arts. Can’t believe there isn’t a CHR, AR, or SAR of it yet.
since gen 1 when ditto was considered a pokemon

I like Ditto and its many goofy moments in the TCG and anime.
Maybe it’s this particular Eiscue art that I dislike or maybe the terastal art doesn’t translate well to the TCG.

I can see your opinion being more popular
I think it’s emblematic of Aoki’s comical approach to Pokémon illustrations, which couldn’t be more polar opposite to EGAWA’s tera Charizard ex. Seeing a flaming ice cube chandelier fling across the desert as a Special Art Rare is surely unexpected

I’m wondering if all the new artists are there to stay or if they get that one card fame and that’s it, i’m quite sad that for example Hataya hasn’t made any cards in S&V, was my favourite new artist alongside Shinji Kanda

The debut artists from 151 have returned in this set, like Cona Nitanda (Erika’s Invitation), Natsumi Yoshida (Mew ex), Tetsu Kayama (Machoke), rika (Dragonair) and Kedamahadaitai Yawarakai (Ekans). There are some odd cases like Fumie Kittaka have drawn cards with large time gaps - their only cards are in SM11b Dream League (2019), S8b VMAX Climax (2021) and SV2a Pokémon 151 (2023). Toshinao Aoki returned after 18 years and has been very active throughout Scarlet & Violet. So I think artists like Hataya will likely stick around even with long hiatuses, it’s just a matter of waiting

Just wanna say for any fellow Shibuzoh enjoyers, Tetsu Kayama (151 debut) has a fairly similar style.
