I like CGC, zero issue with them. Fair pricing and food turnaround time. Slabs are nice to.
But overtly harsh grading from the eu versions of these companies is frustrating as it means it’s basically a separate grading scale that needs to be learnt.

hola hola! So I’m planning to send some cards after the Iberian in May, only ultramodern and maybe some stickers. Do u have any package at home or not yet?
Not yet mate, should be with me on the 14th
So 1 month and a half? that is very good.
Standard was done in 3 business days haha just didn’t ship back to me as they were waiting for the economy ordered to complete.
The problem is Germany, not CGC or Beckett, I will never submit to Europe again, I prefer to pay custom fees and submit to the US
Correct, that was for when they sent to the USA
Frustrating as us euro peeps don’t have many consistent options.
Just wait a couple more months my friend, PSA is opening soon ![]()
Ryan Hoge said in an interview that newer graders tend to bias towards harsher grading. I imagine that explains part of the variance in EU grading experiences so far. Interested to see what happens at PSA Frankfurt
I would have loved it if they had opened a PSA branch in Italy. If they were as consistent in grading as they are in pricing the cards they sell (they sell them as NM, but they look like they’ve been run over by a truck), the percentage of PSA 10s would be nearly 100%.
Just kidding (or not) ![]()
You’re always a noob in the presence of ze Germans.
Surprised everything didn’t “nine”

Oh no, this does not give me hope for my own recent CGC Germany submission. Mostly modern, but a good amount of vintage cards in mint condition. ![]()
Best of luck haha. Let me know how it goes
I am sorry for your results at CGC Germany…it’s tough. I’m now ever less confident of subbing to ze Germans when PSA frankfurt finally opens ![]()
Can confirm your experience with grading vintage cards.
I finished my Pokemon/Yugioh collection this year and was now looking to transfer my whole collection to CGC since their slabs look the best to me and I won’t sell these cards anytime soon.
I graded 3 times now with CGC Germany to see if any of the submissions were just unlucky but unfortunatly it is true that they are extremly strict on vintage cards.
Here are some examples:
BGS 8 → CGC 6.5
BGS 8.5 → CGC 6
BGS 8 → CGC 7
BGS 9 → CGC 7.5
Also had some other cards that either stayed the same or got a slightly worse grade. I did not receive a single grade bump out of all cards I submitted.
1st Edition Dark Dragonite Team Rocket: PSA 8.5 → CGC 8.5
1st Edition Tyrannitar Neo Discovery: PSA 9 → CGC 8.5
1st Edition Pichu Neo Genesis: BGS 8.5 → CGC 8.5
1st Edition Steelix Neo Genesis: CGC 9 → CGC 8.5
Yugioh 1st Dark Magician of Chaos IOC: BGS 9 → CGC 8.5
1st Edition Dark Gengar Neo Destiny: BGS 8 → CGC 8
Yugioh 1st Blue-Eyes White Dragon SDK: BGS 8.5 → CGC 8.5
I also sent in 4 Cards for Crossgrading and all 4 came back as “Below Min. Grade”
So yeah, kinda sad with how they grade vintage. Won’t be grading with them anymore.
Oww, that was a harsh return! Are you planning to resubmit or change the company?
Welcome to the forums. I wish it was on a better note.
Cheers!
Those grades are CRIMINAL. That is not ok. Even by “modern” card standards those grades should not be that low.
Oh man! So sorry to see this. That’s a huge issue.
It’s extremely frustrating when they don’t follow their own grading standards!
Personally I am going to write to CGC about this.
They are quite receptive.
Makes me not want to send them any vintage at all until this is corrected.
