My 100% complete Staraptor TCG Collection

I’m a simple guy, I see a milestone hit, I celebrate. I saw you post this on Reddit also and almost commented but got distracted

to a degree yes, but keeping up with all the weird and wonderful ones like LA, Portuguese, Thai, SC & TC makes it super fun to keep up to date

Big congrats again! A huge achievement to complete an all-language species collection! I love reading about each species collector’s achievements and struggles with all languages. Some of the most unassuming cards can turn out to be some of the hardest to track down. All languages is really a beast, and I very much appreciated how you broke down each set and described what cards were available for that art and in what language. It was all very informative.

I’ve helped tracked down a couple unlimited XY10 and XY8 cards for other species collectors, and from what I remember, like with you, it’s always the unassuming bulk listing of random cards rather than single listings that eventually led to success. Also digging through all listings after searching just the pokemon name, without any additional details, like @eeveeteam always advocates. It’s great to read about the lengths to which you went to try and pry one out and then you just finding it for super cheap one random day—perhaps a small reward for your perseverance and dedication! And, as is customary following these year-long chases after unassuming cards, two more unlimited XY8 Staraptors will surely appear on the marketplaces in the near future in short succession :slightly_smiling_face:

Congrats again, and thanks for the beautiful post!

Thank you!

Haha, very true. After all, for the (at the time) second hardest to get card for me (the Spanish trainer kit one) there are currently three Cardmarket listings too.

You did it!! Congratulations on the huge milestone, I know you’ve been looking for that last card for a while. Absolutely amazing work!

Thank you, hopefully you’ll find the XY8 unlimited Empoleon soon too!

Big congrats! I already saw the unlimited edition Staraptor addition in the Recent purchases thread, but I wasn’t even aware you were going for all languages and this was the final card to complete it! An even bigger congrats are in order in that case! I know a lot of species collectors going for all languages, but there aren’t many that 100% completed their collections. Most whom are close are still missing one or two pesky cards, usually rare unlimited edition Japanese cards or Korean unlimited edition Base Set cards.

Love the walls of texts and explanations of the cards and how you’ve acquired them.

And it’s funny how many people through reddit (or other places) I’ve inspired to collect their own species collections (in all languages). Even though I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t once inspired myself by Justin(ator).

Once again big congrats on completing it, and best of luck keeping it complete in the future with new releases.

Greetz,

I would never start a species collection much less an all-language one, but really love reading about the stories that people who do make that their goal and their journey to completion. The amount of knowledge that you casually include as to how to get certain items or the releases of certain sets makes me think of how much of this information is just floating around unassumingly with the unheralded collectors of underrated species. I’m not even sure TPC has any idea of the amount of unique prints each card has.

Congratulations on your collection!

Thank you and yeah, in fact TPC is sometimes partially unaware as until 2024, the official statistic for the number of languages the TCG was printed in was off by one.

Huge congratulations! Your last missing card was one of the cards i was rooting the most to surface, those multi year hunts really get under your skin even if you’re only following the hunt  this was a great read and i loved how detailed both the card information and the stories were, you’ve really used the whole tool box to get your cards!

I don’t remember if you have already told it but is going for the whole evolution line something you have considered or is your love dedicated purely for the evolved form?

Thank you! For now I’ll stick to keeping up with Staraptor as that’s by far the Pokémon from the evolution line I like the most, but never say never. For now the next collection goal I’m looking towards is however to complete my collection of Pokémon Battle Revolution versions where I’m not missing too many either.

Yup, thanks, @dromanyte already informed me earlier.

So that portion is no longer true, but I’ll of course gladly accept the challenge ^^

First Start Deck 100 Battle Collection addition (and also the first addition overall since posting this topic)! Still waiting for the price of the IR to drop a bit and other languages than Japanese have yet to release.
