Coming up next are the VHS & Neo Intro Deck cards. Glad I picked them up sealed pretty much at their floor price of the last few years. Frankly the numbered Energy cards aren’t that interesting, so I’m showing you only the Pokemon cards (Venusaur and Blastoise have already been featured previously). They’re pretty niche but from the packaging to the artworks I love everything about them.

Decided to take some pics of the Intro deck boxes and their contents too while I’m at it. It’s only the second time ever they’ve seen the light of day. I try to handle these guys as little as possible.

I find it kinda odd that they used these ‘simplified’ alternative artworks for the cards in the Neo booklet.
The Chansey coins are interesting in that they look exactly the same on the front, but have different backs (Left is VHS, right is Neo).

No I had no idea! That’s awesome. 
I’m still contemplating picking up one of those boxes at some point as it has Pichu on the front, but I’m worried if I do I’d end up on a slippery slope of having to then set my sights on a sealed English Neo Genesis box as well.

Oof, well I’d understand if you don’t want to commit yourself to that. Maybe you could settle for empty boxes if you can suppress your perfectionism 
I’m VERY Jealous haha! Currently waiting for a listing I can actually buy to pop up on Mercari over here. There is one and it’s just a big blue-baller. No one is able to buy the item because the seller locked it. But the price is amazing! I believe you have to contact the guy, but he never seems to respond. He’s got some great cards on his page too. it’s really sad how difficult they are to purchase from him.

Smpratte has an Intro Deck Neo up for auction right now if you want to test you luck . Given his exposure though, that one might get really expensive.
For now the cards themselves are still very affordable, so if you only go for the exclusive artworks you might be able to get all of them for well under 200 USD i guess
On the other hand, the complete boxes really are quite nice to look at

Yeah, I’d like both ideally, sealed and singles so I can enjoy the artworks. Thanks for informing me, didn’t know he listed one. But that’s true that Scott’s will probably get pretty pricey. I will likely have an easier time waiting and buying over here in Japan anyways.
Agreed, they’re not too pricey individually yet. I’ll likely just have to piece it together like I do most sets.

Soo, only a cute miscellaneous update today with recent pickups.
Recently I realized that there are three corocoro promos that have the Vending symbol. So this is what my last Vending binder double page looks like now. You can see the Cubone, Jynx and Farfetch’d in the middle row on the right page.
Despite being described as NM and purchased for quite a few bucks, those are in pretty bad shape sadly. But they will do for me I guess.
It almost makes sense to me now that these corocoro promos sell for four figures in PSA 10, they’re just so hard to find in decent shape.
Here are two nice Masago’s in gradable condition, both likely in the PSA 9 territory IMO.

For a couple weeks I got to experience the joy of having a Gym 2 booster pack within my booster collection. A few days back though, out of nowhere in the middle of the night, I had an untamable urge to open a booster and my choice fell on this exact pack. Of course I hoped for a Zard and one of the banned cards, but what I got instead is really not that bad either.
Last but definitely not least, I finally got my hands on the best Pokemon promo release of the last few years, maybe ever. Rowlet could be a solid PSA 8, Psyduck and Evee look like strong 9s. Thanks to @gottaketchumall , @pokemonunboxing & @shadowless for convincing me to buy these raw instead of graded a few weeks back. A single PSA 9 Psyduck is now almost as much as I paid for the three of them together!

Thank you for that compliment! As a college student, I don’t have huge amounts of spare money, so I try to spend it as efficiantly and selectively as possible to get the most enjoyment out of it.

@muk your collection is phenomenal. The question is who doesn’t love the japanese stuff, particularly the vending and coro coro? Most people just don’t know about them. If they did, it would be a made rave just like it is for 1st ed base right now. You specifically got me into getting a few of the obscure ones I never knew existed–for that I am grateful.
Personal favorites are slowbro and ponyta vending, and meowth coro coro.
Just love your collection. Love it when those on here have unique collections or setups/arrangements. It is funny how there are almost infinite possibilities despite having finite cards available, especially the fact that at the end of the day, most of what E4 has is the same! (Ok ok not everyone can be smpratte)

There are good reasons though why Vending is not as hyped up as other sets. It has no ‘chase cards’, specifically no Zard, and it doesn’t trigger as many nostalgic reactions in YT videos. To be honest, I’d heavily prefer if the ‘investment’ focus stays on the English side, so Vending and other old school Japanese stuff remains more or less obtainable for the less rich.
We’ll see how it pans out I guess

Completely agree. I’m one who collects to collect. I like me some affordable cards. The vendings to me are priceless–it is very nice that 90%+ of them are under $10 a piece. I don’t collect for those chase anyway, you and me both my man!
I mean, unless you consider vending ponyta to be chase, then hell yeah I chase! I chase that beauty all day!

Just had the chance to catch up on your collection thread, and I must say it’s one of my favourites on E4!
You have great taste; I love seeing a lot of old back Japanese promos/exclusive sets without the usual trophy card distractions… Very similar to my collecting tastes (and budget), so there’s always something to see, appreciate and pick up!
