More Fake Stamp Drama (eBay Advice Sought)

I recently had the misfortune of purchasing one of the fake stamped cards noted here last week (Venusaur). As someone who prides himself an “expert,” I definitely did not do my homework and own the mistake. I thought carefully about sending it back to PSA and trying to get my money back while also removing it from circulation; however, I just don’t have the time to deal with that now that school started (as some of you know, I’m a teacher and typically reserve Pokemon to a summer-only hobby). Having said that, is there any chance that eBay does not side with me on this if the seller does not agree to a return/refund. How do I successfully prove that it’s “not authentic” when PSA graded it? Do I even need to prove it . . . I know eBay is often more supportive of buyers in such situations.

Any insight or advice is definitely appreciated! Also, just for the record, the stamp is very obviously fake in person . . . I’m fairly confident the ink would smear with the slightest of moisture. I know this was discussed in the original thread.

If he doesn’t agree to a return, then Ebay will need evidence that it’s fake. If you don’t crack the case, it’s essentially your word against a professional grading company. Ironically enough PSA screwed up by grading it in the first place, but Ebay isn’t really going to buy that.

So to me it seems the only option is sending it back to PSA. This to me is the only option because it should not be in circulation. Returning it will only repeat the cycle.

Excellent answer and well rounded!

Returning the card to PSA would remove it from circulation. Otherwise if returned to the ebay seller it would be resold again and again until it sticks with someone less knowledgable and who believes it to be authentic. You would essentially be SAVING the next person, potentially someone with less insight, from getting scammed as well. And that would be a pretty cool thing in my opinion  you would essentially be doing the entire hobby a service.
