I think most people are just making a light hearted joke. I do think its been beaten into the ground now. But its mainly because buffet talks about umbreon all the time. Naturally people are going to get annoyed.
As for not being welcoming, I don’t know what to say besides most people here are extremely kind, and the forum overall is by far the least drama site of its size in pokemon. Its impossible for everyone to get along at this scale, but we do our best.
Life is like that. You can’t expect to be Mr Popular, especially on the internet where it’s like a veil/curtain, people can’t see you clearly nor tell by your actual vocal tone in real life. Most people also wants agreeable opinions or things to go their way.
And agree with Scott, this forum is not that bad. Trust me, I’ve been in worse forums/subs/groups/communities, not pokemon related.
If the forum wasn’t welcoming, pokebuffet would have been banned a long time ago. 
I don’t mean that as a negative either. I think this situation has proven that this forum is incredibly receptive to opinions, even when a majority of the time people disagree lol.

Shoot im sorry mate i meant no offense. I got rid of the meme. It was a dumb, childish poke and i was a small person for that. All love bro.
It’s a fair criticism of me without any context.
With context, it’s not just a meme or a joke, it’s a narrative pushed by a single individual that I have to deal with on a near daily basis in most threads he posts in. And I also have to privately deal with the response to that from the rest of the community.
I actually have no opinion on whether the moonbreon card will go up or down so I don’t believe I am defending whatever the norm is here. What got to me was that the daily moonbreon pumping in contrast to the gains projected by the meme. A stronger person would have let it go but it got me. Every day we should try to be the best versions of ourselves but we can’t live up to that standard every day

I can see why all the Moonbreon talk wears on people sometimes. I dont really have any strong opinions about the card either way, so i usually just dont get involved in the conversations.
Though i will admit i probably have a bit of bias against the card. To me, its the epitome of everything that i dislike about modern-- the posterboy of swsh stonk culture. It reminds me of all the negativity i have felt and experienced in this hobby. I dont want to speak for others but its possible that may have something to do with the reactions you get.
Thats just how i feel tho

At first I was the same as you - no hard feelings. However if you take a closer look at the conversations in this thread:
You can notice that when others trying to answer the opening question seriously with examples or even past data (please don’t tell me you think that thread is also a meme lol), this person didn’t respond with counter examples but instead with:
So it turned out that the thread wasn’t about asking a question, but instead was this person thinking “Chinese is going to cause Japanese to drop so English is going to triumph in the end” and tried to seek agreement to it. All others were trying to answer the question seriously and this person just dropped off and starting to spam personal opinions whenever there was a chance.
E4 can be full of useful information but only if you treat both the information and other users in respect. For someone behaving like this, people will stop treating their posts seriously and turn all of them into memes because the information they provided is going to be wasted anyway. (I also turned my head away from this person after learning this from that thread.)
He just wants reaffirmation that English is the preferred collector’s language. His argument is weird tho.
I’ll just ask publicly to the mods, at what stage does a person get banned if they continue to derail threads with a singular narrative?
I’m all for free speech (not that forums technically are free speech since they are privately owned and moderated) but the forum experience gets ruined quickly when you can’t escape the mono-narrative and bait.
I can only speak for myself, but I am actually a bit weary of the forum lately because even though I have the instigator on ignore, I still have to encounter responses to them in a variety of threads and it makes for a more uncertain and displeasurable experience- not knowing whether the latest thread updates are of high quality enjoyable discussion or just the same diatribe ad nauseam.
The week or 2 the baiter was away made this place so peaceful. Now we are stuffed with a buffet and we aren’t hungry for any more of it. Sometimes all you can eat buffets are not the best
