is it cheaper to crack 30 psa cards and re submit or to send them for the review from the uk? ty.

mods don’t let this thread turn into a cracking vs review debate.

If you use PSA’s special right now you can crack each card and have them graded for $10 a piece or you can send them in for review for $10 a piece.

What it comes down to shipping cost. Not sure what it would cost you to send 30 graded cards to the United States but I’m betting it would be cheaper if they were cracked D:

Wow cracking 30 cards. You mean to tell me you have a better eye on grading than PSA. Good luck with that.

sadly yes. ty tho

What’s your ebay name? lol

Myself along with many others have easily sent back dozens of cards in for review that came back with different (higher) grades. So it’s very possible op could get a better grade on those 30 cards.

if the grade is changed in the review would they pay for shipping do you kno?

No, why would they? You always have to pay for shipping both ways unless PSA is fixing a label or remedying an issue with a previous order.

in my view i see it as fixing a label. seems cracking is better still. ty

You’re paying them to regrade/reevaluate a card. It’s more than a label issue dude.

I would argue i have already paid them to do that and they are fixing a mistake they made IF the grade was to be changed the the right one but however i dont think they should pay if you just send in 50 9s and pray for lucky 10s lol. im talking about clear cut yeah thats the wrong grade type cards.

maybe reimbursement for postage or a coupon on next sub wouldnt be so bad in these cases.

Kind of agree that if they do decide to change the grade, they could at least pay the shipping back.
But if they keep it the same grade, it’s on you.

I’m well aware that this might give them some type of incentive to never up the grade, as they then have to pay for the shipping back, but would have hoped they would at least be a company one would and could rely on.

Oof. Cracking and sending back seems pretty disingenuous.

I think your logic is sound. The big problem I see is, were PSA to implement your suggestion, they would all of a sudden be incentivized to just stand by their old grade regardless. In cases where it could go either way, they would probably side with their original grade more often. If we want the luxury of challenging their grades with any degree of success, it’s a cost we will likely always have to eat.

I think for things graded 8.5 and you regrade to a 9 or an 8 or little differences i understand but if i send in a 5 and it comes back a 10 no way should i be paying that shipping. very easy to for them to have a policy of if we fucked ur grade by lets say at least 3 grades we pay for it to be shipped. surely with how many graders check each card before its graded this wouldnt hurt them too much would it? if they try to stand by things like that im sure the negative attention they would get from it would hurt them more. just my 2 cent tho what do i kno lol

Totally fair. I guess I was talking more about the small changes, I’ve never seen or heard of a grade being that off but if that happens, I would agree with you.

Out of curiosity, what is the biggest upward grade change you guys have seen? I’ve literally only seen an 8 become a 9 once and nothing else.

I have a PSA 1 card that most definitely is PSA 9/10 quality and was likely meant to be a PSA 10. I can only assume it was a typo along their process somewhere. It is a pack fresh mint + old school ex along with many other old school ex’s and my own thorough review of the card doesn’t show any issue to it at all, let alone enough to drop it to a 1. If it were a PSA 6 you could say I am missing a corner issue/dent/ding/minor crease, but not with this, not with a 1.

Even as a PSA 10 it is a ~$50 card so I haven’t bothered to get it remedied.

As far as cards that aren’t just typo errors I once cracked a PSA 8.5 that upon re submission went to a 10. It wasn’t my strongest 10 ever but certainly not my weakest either. On the other side of it I have reviewed a few PSA 9’s that had obvious flaws down to anywhere from PSA 5-7 range through their financial guarantee of grade and authenticity.

Wow, this is great info. Thank you!

30 cards seems like quite alot to all be mistakes… Are you just sending 9s to upgrade to 10s? Do you have photos of an example of a card you will be sending away to degrade as maybe we can save you time and money here?
