Moduwa was super shady and would lie about Harada sketches/autos on cards to generate sales behind the scenes while pretending she would never sign again. Also, PSA will add any artist to the database if you know the right person that works there so they can add you. If you look around a bit at the community you can see other people you have never heard of that are IG stencil artists who were also added.
I will give you $1,000 doll hairs. Also, I think you just made your new profile pic
Im more surprised this hasnât come up. I do remember hearing that he was having Harada sign cards for him and then he was selling them and then she found out, then the relationship crumbled.
My only argument is that he was already known on IG and then people started finding out when his PSA authenticated sketches sold for big money on Ebay. Also at this time he had stopped taking on commissions in fear of being sued by the Pokemon company. Obviously that has changed because itâs now a business.
Not directed at you: Do whatever you want, have your opinions. People are missing the point⊠again⊠why do I bother.
If all it takes is to have a couple thousand followers on instagram to be âknownâ then the bar of fame is far too low
they are pretty neat but yeah i doubt theyll hold value long term because of that. the pokeman artists are contractually obligated to only draw at sanctioned events by the pokeman company etc but he can just draw any pokeman he wants to willy nilly
they are going for 1000 bux on the secondary market currently because everything pokeman related is pumped to the moon ![]()
Should Moduwa be sued by The Pokemon Company for copying their illustrations / intellectual property / trademarks and selling these sketches for profit? Itâs an interesting legal question.
Relevant Acts if Moduwa and The Pokemon Company were located in the U.S.: Copyright Act (Title 17 of the United States Code) & Lanham Act (The Trademark Act of 1946).
The issue here is copyright infringement. If Moduwa was creating fan art for personal enjoyment or non-commercial sharing, it would fly under the radar like the millions of tumblr or deviant art posts. But that isnât whatâs happening - they are selling these sketches for profit (commercial use) without the requisite permissions to create or authorize derivative work.
Moduwa could also be liable for trademark infringement. Each Pokemon character represents the âPokemon brand,â and selling merchandise that features them could cause consumer confusion (as it already has!), making buyers suspect that it is officially licensed or sponsored by The Pokemon Company.
Anyway, I am not a fan of these sketches and I am annoyed that PSA indirectly created this new sub-industry in Pokemon TCG collecting.
Something about this guy auctioning these cards off on his Instagram rubs me the wrong way. Hope TPC sends him a takedown notice. His slabbed up sketches going on eBay for $1K+ is obscene.
Same. Itâs crappy renditions of stock Pokemon art on energy cards.
I donât like the prices people are willing to pay for this crap either but they do ![]()
At the end of the day itâs just good marketing done my him and a few other social media whales and the idiotic masses who follow them on insta are gobbling it up.
This guy is definitely laughing all the way to the bank â if PSA didnât have him in the autograph registry, thereâs no way heâd be doing this kind of volume.
Heâs snapping up GS Rayquazas like hot cakes as a consequence. Less salty about his art as an artist, and moreso on PSA letting this kind of stuff through. Just fuels the crap fire were already seeing in this hobby.
He had a handful of GS rays even a few years back when I found his page on Instagram, appreciated the variants he has of the Ray, and then blocked him after a week because I got tired of him spamming the same stuff on his IG stories.
I think the volume and self marketing is what led to him getting registered but I could be wrong.
Not sure what the chicken and egg is here. But I do agree he definitely exploded since being registered.
No matter how hard I try, I just canât understand why people spend money on this â especially when it comes to collectorâs items.
To me, tracing or even skillfully copying an artwork without any technical assistance isnât real art; at best, you can appreciate the craftsmanship.
I can still understand fan art that takes inspiration from the originals, because people put genuine effort into placing a Pokémon in new settings and expanding the universe. But at this level, I might as well just print the artworks at home myself.
The crazy thing is that there are original artists who will do a custom commission for you for significantly less cost
i will gladly do a custom commission for anyone who would like me to draw their favorite pokemon. the price will be that you tell me a secret, any secret. see following picture as proof of my artistic ability
