Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024

Who else is checking here on a semi-daily basis? Lol

I checked in with CGC yesterday since it’s been about a month since I sent in my card. Sadly, they had no update for me. Hopefully they can give us some info soon or start refunding us.

Where can I buy one of these bad boys?!

Akabane say anything yet? Or is this going to be a classic case of a rug pull, this never happened we don’t talk about it.

Akabane said ‘Yes, I will have another 18 year old whiskey on the rocks’ whilst wiping his sweat with a 5000 yen bill.

Like this post if you’ve gotten paid out by CGC. You don’t have to make a formal statement or tell us the amount. I’m just curious if anyone has gotten their money back.

This is heavy speculation but I imagine they may have hired some serious forensic people externally to put together a report. The alpha pattern is tricky so maybe they want more proof than what I provided (or just replicating what I did would take some time).

Simultaneously I can imagine they could be preparing a serious legal case here against individuals involved, perhaps also working directly with law enforcement.

And finally, it’s a decent amount of money if they do go the full payout route. So they need that money on hand which may also require getting insurance companies involved - they will want to see the stuff above be done first too.

You probably won’t see anything new until there is significant resolution to these steps in the process.

Im just surprised we havent seen any statement or resolution for the stuff that is easily debunked like the 2024 beta and deltas.

I can see some other stuff taking more time but would go along way to showing there working on it to atleast process the undisputable ones and give us a sense of how they are solving the issue.

So i finally broke and sent my high quality beta venusaur into cgc, heard nothing so far except them wanting my original invoice from heritage. Ik this question was.prob already answered but cant remember, the cards that have been proven to be real with the 1996 dots, are those backs have only 1 pattern or multiple patterns? Just worried that cgc will try and screw me on my HQ beta and say its “real” when we all know they’re fake. Thanks.

Also just saw a.message from beam saying hes pissed at cgc and thought theyd do the right thing by him and hes gonna have to fight gor every cent from cgc so not a good sign

Ahh i see thank you Lord PFM🙏

Beam seems to be in a different situation similar to gemmint where they claim they wouldnt have bought them if cgc wouldnt authenticate them.

Imo if there raw its harder to pin on cgc i totally understand the logic behind the argument.

  1. If they were sold directly from Akabane there is a non 0 chance people wouldve still bought them without being gradable just by the “provenance” of them being “real”.

  2. Just because a company grades something it doesnt mean what someone is buying raw is authentic. People buy fake cards and get scammed all the time.
If i buy a fake moonbreon at a show just because psa grades moonbreons doesnt make them responsible that i bought a fake of it.

Except CGC graded the cards they bought raw. Also Beams bought some already graded as well.

Let’s say you bought raw cards with cgcs assurance that they would grade them. Same provenance as the other cards which were advertised as real by cgc. This controversy comes to light after purchase. I think CGC should bare a percentage of liability in this situation. What percentage will probably be determined by the courts at a later date. It’s all a cluster but I do understand both sides. I’m sure CGC is making the decision not to accept liability in this situation after consulting w its legal/insurance teams. Hoping the cards they did encapsulate can be resolved soon. I don’t think they can weasel their way out of paying out on those.

There’s no shortage of weasels in the Pokemon TCG. Sadly…

Very true.

Here are a few of them.
