Many of the Pokemon playtest cards were likely printed in 2024

Do we know the initial auction sellers for each platform, like alt? I know for example beam was on fanatics

People have made flowcharts to how these cards were distributed. Maybe one should be made on how litigation/financial responsibility is handled.

People are throwing a lot of bigger names in this hobby under the bus simply because they auctioned cards off, when in all likelihood they were victims as well and had no clue they purchased something printed in 2024.

I think most sensible people are awaiting a response from CGC - the company owned/backed by Blackstone (Currently worth 215.6 Billion dollars with 1 trillion assets under management) that authenticated these cards. I’ve seen people already lashing out at the auction houses and now individuals for not just shelling out refunds directly when that isn’t how this works.

Hope you are doing okay after the surgery, and can get some better sleep!

(im just a witness to all this, and echo the sentiment to any that are out money)

Same. I reached out to Rare Candy about their recent playtest auction but have not gotten a response. So, I am interested in knowing if there is an update from them that someone has seen or heard of.

Some in discord have gotten emails back. You will need to return the slab to them of course.

Interesting that some auction houses are now offering full refunds, likely due to the compelling evidence presented by collectors and prominent resellers who are posting about refunding their clients. This may start a wave of other auction houses to reconsider their stance and follow suit. Which tbh is only going to make them come out stronger after this fraud was revealed and make CGC look more pathetic for taking so long.

OR

This could also suggest that CGC and auction houses might be exploring a centralized reconciliation process, where designated houses are collecting and refunding, then and redirecting cards to CGC. This approach would streamline the process, allowing CGC to manage a smaller number of bulk submissions rather than individual collector requests.

With that said, some auction houses may already be getting ahead of the curve, proactively implementing measures to facilitate this process before whatever CGC is about to announce hopefully sometime soon.

Wow, that is something. I am shocked. I am going to be kind of sad, in a weird way, giving up the cards.

Not to be harsh on zach but I thought he would have talked about the promotion he led with alt for the prototypes. And how that came about etc. He hyped them up big time. Would these of been as hyped up if he hadn’t had purchased them/had skin in the game?

I agree. that’s the impression I get from the instagram story too. We weren’t all duped, there were many sceptics in the original thread.

I think asking for the guys business plan on an investment opportunity may not be at the top of his mind to show when hes dealing with trying to recoup somewhere in the 3million range of total losses based on what he posted.

I get wanting to know all the details since the pokemon community has a tendency to trust eachother with all the rare cards that have been coming out but there will likely be many things that cant be answered in all of this. It sucks for everyone and the blame doesnt belong only to those hyping it.

Looking at the bigger picture, would you not agree that fluff is irrelevant compared to the information he shared? The man vetted out the prototypes to the best of his ability and only shared these cards once CGC had also provided their independent authentication of these cards. At the time of that video, the people conducting the research on these cards believed them to be authentic. Isn’t the standard progression of these findings to spread awareness and a possible side effect of that awareness is “hype?”

I opened a refund request with Fanatics, and have been back and forth by email with them all week. Everything was looking good until I got this email.

They have held these cards for 10 days now, and I expected them to retain them to send back to CGC. I did NOT expect them to ship.

I have no insults that can adequately describe my frustration while staying PG.
