How many controversies and scandals does CGC have to produce or take part in for people to see them as the laughing stock that they are and to stop giving them money? They are a joke and have been for this exact sort of thing for years now. Basically a common theme at this point.
Also lol at the playtest cards, just seems to confirm what so many thought of them. I admit I had a silent loathing of them for a lot of reasons, but one particular one was the vibe of the whole situation. But I am sorry for the e4 comrades who have spent money on them.
Donāt trust those companies. Weāve proven time and time again we know more than CGC and PSA for that matter.
Do we even know what CGC was āauthenticating?ā When they came out with the Protostoise and test print Charizard/missing holo layer cards, they had in-depth articles saying what they looked at and how they determined the cards were authentic.
They gave us no information on these cards, so we donāt even know what they did to authenticate it, unless I missed something. Would XRF even be useful when the main point of contention for the cards is exactly when they were printed and mounted, as evidenced by this thread?
I would recommend for CGC to identify which were printed in 2024 and look at the submitters. Either those submitters are counterfeiters, or their sources are. The branching tree isnāt too convoluted to get lost here. Justice will find a way with how litigious CGC is.
Could you provide more information about the channel settings needed to view the dots? Iām trying to replicate the eevee example in photoshop but getting this result
I believe the Fanatics sold images arenāt high-res enough. I have been periodically downloading high res images of these since the first hit the market. Hereās the image I used: https://imgur.com/a/OpBwiRJ
hopefully imgur doesnāt compress it (the forum would)
Thank you for your had work and thorough analysis @pfm . Most people wouldnāt have posted this while having a financial incentive to keep it to themselves. You had nothing to gain from this apart from reaching the truth and it is greatly appreciated.
Wow. Thatās disheartening. I knew copies would circulate, but never expected that the graded ones wouldnāt have been checked for this. This is basic level shit. Iāll scan my Scyther Beta tomorrow in 1200DPI and upload it here.
Iām assuming we have no recourse through Fanatics or CGC? At least Iāve learned to never buy a CGC graded card again. What a shame.
I think thatās only to the person getting the cards graded. Which in this case would be the scammers (if all of these are fake). I think those of us who bought the cards from an auction house are screwedā¦
Wow. Great job on shedding light on this matter with real data instead of just āhey trust meā. People need take these data seriously. People also have a hard time reaching out to Akabane. He abandoned his original IG account.
Iāve always been dubious of cgcās quick to authenticate rare obscure and potentially sketchy cards. The main thing Iām questioning is why wasnāt this method of analysis already incorporated into something that cgc does or if they were doing it without letting people know so they could not adjust the settings, why didnāt they detect it.
This brings me to the last point. There have been some sketchy individuals involved in the high-end community. I remember Xiao and in this particular deal you have Sean ābasicā. Personally, I never really felt comfortable seeing the deals that he was involved in.
This is an example of a HQ beta. As far as I can tell it doesnāt have dots, which only suggests to me it was probably printed on a different printer. Canāt say anything about when. Iām interested in high-res images of the back though.
wasnt a certain individual involved in those sheets also involved in this deal? Coincidence? Friends with Matt. Favoravble CGC vitnage pristine return rate?
