Japanese Ivy Pikachu Reprinted CoroCoro Variant

Let’s see you flip it over and show the back in the same level of detail in video

no need.

tldr i was working on flattening it out with some light humidity and heat pressing, the “glossy” layer started wrinkling everywhere. after the light heat press the finish is completely gone. this is something i’ve done with tons of glossy cards with no issues

this was 100% some form of glossy coating someone applied to the front, which is extremely crazy because it honestly looked pretty indistinguishable from factory copies. it did however have a faint chemical smell that was slightly suspicious

i’m also quite sure this is the case for the other copy posted above after seeing more detailed pictures of it. it has many similar qualities. another thing that tipped me off was if you looked closely you could see surface wear on the cardboard that appeared to be below the high quality gloss layer

i got this directly from mercari japan. someone is up to some tricky tricky stuff, be careful out there

You don’t need to tell any experts to be careful since there is no such thing as a glossy kinebuchi with centered energy.

These couple times it’s been alleged there is a such a thing I knew. If there was any doubt the presentations were fishy enough. This one looked completely off for so many reasons.

Also stop altering cards and doing sketchy bullshit.

Wow now that I’m looking at this on desktop I realize how obvious it is. I hate using mobile anything.

Thanks for sharing!
I’ve seen Yu-Gi-Oh cards with a fake glossy/holo layer on top of it before, but this is the first time I’ve seen it done to mimic a Glossy Pokémon card. Then again, I guess there aren’t too many cards that are available as both non-glossy and glossy and for which the glossy version is rarer, besides this Keiji Kinebuchi 1998 Pikachu.
I hope you haven’t paid too much for your Pokémon lot because of this card.

Either way, thanks for sharing your experience.

So 100% 98 glossy kinebuchi energy not centered? I only ask because I am in the market and appreciate all the knowledge on this forum, it is unmatched.

100%

And perhaps I missed it but the 96 Sugimori glossy is the same, off set issue, correct? I know the incorrect ill. is enough to know but curious.

All glossy cards, 96 ken and 98 kinebuchi are off center colorless yes
