When I started collecting it was like I was just setting sail on an adventure. Learning new things daily, finding treasures here and there.
Now it feels like I’ve seen everything there is to see, there is rarely a thread that interests me nowadays (no shade on the thread makers). I feel like my knowledge of the hobby has reached a point where I would call myself an expert but the new information has plateaued.
I used to spend hours and days going into rabbit holes looking for info or searching for an item, but I haven’t done that in a while.
Last time I had fun getting lost was here: 1999 Tropical Wind Cards from Osaka were Mailed to Participants
Although looking back on the last few months, these japanese E-reader sample cards are something I find fascinating. I just haven’t had the drive to dive into it.
I still enjoy the hobby. I recently flew to the UK to purchase a grail card for my Komiya collection and I had a good time with friends going to a convention locally. But for the most part (going back to my original analogy), it feels like I have sailed the 7 seas and seen as much as I can.
It just feels a little less exciting from once I set out.
