Is this Pikachu worth it?

But what makes you want this card when you know so little about it? For me that makes no sense

Bruh.

You had to ask here if a 1st edition Charizard PSA 10 for $90 that was found in a shipping container was a fake. Now you’re asking if you should overpay quite significantly for a card while having the option to BIN for cheaper that also has a Best Offer to get it even lower. Sounds like you’re diving in too deep before you can paddle.

I think even with all the valuable help given to you here it seems like you need to figure this out for yourself. Buy what you like, find out what scams are first hand and take the hit, buy overpriced cards and lose some value/money for no reason. Only then might you learn to use eBay completed listings and research better what you’re buying into.

You learn from mistakes after all and it seems like you can’t confidently make these choices on your own at the moment. I’m all about asking for help when required but it sounds like you’re not even trying to help yourself.

For inspiration but i agree with others. Take your time. Money is valuable and it’s better to have it and be confident about the card you are buying than to not have it and not be confident in the card.

So many things to discover, have you checked out smprattes YouTube channel?

other companies have stricter grading scales i.e. BGS. Harder to get a perfect 10 through those. PSA 10s are known for having slight imperfections such as white spots on occasion.

I recently re-entered the hobby 7 months ago and I agree with everything said here. You will make mistakes that you will realize 6 months down the line. Probably best to start with small mistakes and when you start to feel confident about navigating the market you can begin to make larger gambits. A great example is that I thought I was super cool buying english cards in Japanese markets, later after spending 200 USD I realized that 90% of the English deals on yahoo and mercari are fake cards.

I find that it is continuous mistakes, not the same ones of course, but where you learn from the first, pivot and then make another without realizing it lol.

oh after i realized that collecting EN in JP was a mistake I continued to blunder on:

  • paid $10 more than MSRP on sealed products on release
  • paying a penny per card on bulk commons thinking I could resale at my LCS
  • overcollecting sealed product on pretty bad sets

But I learned a lot through all of the mistakes and found my niche in vintage and jumbo cards
