Is selling internationally on eBay wise... or not?

I’m thinking about putting some sealed Base Set Booster Boxes up for sale on eBay, but could really use some opinions about offering them just in the U.S. or also making them available elsewhere. I’ve never sold outside the U.S., so I’m totally clueless about the shipping options, prices, and safety. I’m sure there are plenty of horror stories out there, and I could use all the advice and warnings I can get. Thanks in advance!

Well first things first is to figure out the shipping options, prices, and safety for shipping them from the US to international and see if it’s worth it to you lol. Iv’e shipped them internationally and it costs me about $37CAD to ship a booster box from canada to australia with tracking for example. I usually just make free shipping with north america cuz it’s pretty cheap for me, and just add an extra $40-$50 for international shipping. This way I get a much wider target audience and will most likely sell the item quicker and for my asking price because other countries don’t always have what you have available to them so they’re willing to pay that premium to get it. I offer international shipping always for that reason. I have even had customers pay $16 shipping with tracking for $3-$8 cards lol. Just make sure you package them very well with bubble wrap and everything and make sure the booster box can’t move much cuz it will be travelling further.

ebay GSP is probs best tbh, to start.Unless your god researching shipping costs, insurance plus prof of postage AND delivery…cant stress the proof of delivery enough.Ebay wont entertain you at all if the customer tries to pull a fast one and you cant prove it.

Shipping overseas is simply a matter of putting a different address on the box. Simple. Most the protection options are available no matter where you ship.
At the very least, if you decide not to ship overseas, is use eBay global shipping program. It’s better than nothing.

Couldn’t have said it better myself

Whilst I detest the GSP, if you’re really nervous about sending international, use it.

If it was me, I’d research the postage costs, and then add insurance. I always figure; can I afford to lose this? If the answer is no, make the buyer pay for THEIR protection.

Just make sure to put Tracking on large sales overseas. How large warrants tracking is up to you and what kind of a loss you are willing to take if the package goes missing (or the buyer claims it did). International tracking can be costly, but the buyer should understand that buying overseas is expensive. As long as you have proof of delivery (and you shipped what you advertised), you are protected.

Due to exchange rate shenanigans and the scarcity of certain items in international markets, you’ll reach buyers willing to pay a premium. That’s been my experience, anyway. As long as you figure out shipping & insurance, I think it’s a smart move.

Definitely this. If you put stuff for auction you can definitely reach more interest abroad. Sure, you can be a nervous wreck when just starting off, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easy and you also build a customer base abroad. It’s a win/win normally.

I was uncertain when I first started selling on eBay, limiting myself to Australia only [singles and very small $ items]. When I decided to list a couple of high end items, I did my research. I’ve never had an issue shipping anything overseas.

Wish Australia had the option to use something like GSP. That said, research, research, research! You do the homework, and you’ll have no issues .
