I’m collector from Hong Kong and I’m in the midst of organising a trading card show here in HK. I was hoping that we could invite some Pokemon artist to come to our event for signing. The problem is I have no idea where to start and I was hoping someone maybe able to giving me guidance? Much appreciated it.
Welcome to the forum!
Unfortunately, it’s a lot harder than just inviting an artist to get them to do a signing event. I wish it was easy, but almost all signing events these days are organized by people with direct connections to artists and/or previous experience with signing events. Even then, many of these signing events have been negative experiences for artists. The most prominent artists avoid signing events almost entirely because of this.
You may have luck with less established artists who have demonstrated a thicker skin and more willingness to play the money-optimization game that autos have become, especially in the Chinese market (e.g. Jerky).
Last I heard TPC disallowed active artists from doing TCG signing events as a safety measure because they had a few incidents of fans following artists back to their home asking for signatures
Pokecolor seems to have a pretty good relationship with artist right now. I’d ask them for help, if they’re willing.
