Feraligatr is my favorite Pokemon of all time, it’s hard for me to pick even my Top 3 just for Feraligatr alone… But I probably choose those three:

After letting this digest throughout the day, I feel as if I should’ve used language, strong language, to express how much I like this one. It takes me to several places. There’s an adventurous, playful element that reminds me of Mary Grandprè and Beatrix Potter. The choice of Butterfree is immaculate.
The colors 
the textures , the theme! This doesn’t belong on a card really, it belongs on a wall on canvas. STUNNER!

i don’t think there are any pokemon that had as many bangers as crammorant did last time, but still a lot of cool art styles scattered.
pfm asked me to do polling for these, so we’re going to do one for each mon in pokedex order.

It’s disgusting to think someone would be so depraved and immoral as to submit AI made pieces. An affront to everything good in the world and in art.
That side, thankfully all of them are the worst, as AI is incapable of making anything genuinely good. It will always look soulless, just as bad–worse, actually-- as the worst and blandest we’ve seen in the last few years.
I had to comment on that, but that out of the way, I think in general there’s possibly even more quality in the top 300 than last time. Let’s hope judges make better choices than last time. My favorites:
I’ll say I think absol had the generally strongest subs. So many good ones. Very hard to narrow a best, but I’d say the first water color or the 5th psychedelic one. Marvelous stuff.
Then right after that eevee has almost all bland ones. This one is great though.
then feraligatr getting the most quality, sooo many good ones. Easily the 2nd and 4th are the best.
These 2 pikas are phenomenal. Very original.

LOT of bland charizards. Many of these people are talented illustrators, I just find that they have no style and same problem as with so much other digitally made artwork. The skill is there, the inspiration, style, character, and identity isn’t, imo.

My top 3-5 for each (this was difficult):
Absol:
So many great styles, the weird and unusual as per usual win my heart. The last one has an eerie vibe to it.
Eevee:
I honestly only really like the 1st one and then kind of like the second. Eevee had the shortest range of styles but the first one is beautiful and the second one is conceptually fun.
Feraligator:
Feraligator and Flygon had the absolute best arts in my opinion. From Godzilla like depictions, to derp, and then adorable, Feraligator has so many eclectic and wonderful pieces I couldn’t choose just 3. The Hoothoot would have to be my favorite. It’s a rare light to see a gentle Feraligator.
Koraidon:
I do not care for this Pokemon and most arts felt too busy half the time - even the 2nd choice I chose could use some darker tones but I did enjoy these art styles and depictions.
Toxtricity:
I could have made 5 choices but then I realized that so many folks chose the same pose and made even some of the cooler art look a bit generic. These 3 though are fantastic!
Pikachu:
The second one gave me major Chubby Pikachu vibes and hit a weird nostalgia button and absolutely love it. Pikachu had a nice variety too and for a Pokemon I don’t really care for, I could have easily chosen 5 but liked these more in stark contrast.
Bidoof:
Same scenario with Pikachu. The swing one is my favorite.
Flygon:
Like with Feraligator, there were so many tough choices. If they got rid of the other Pokemon and just chose cards between these two categories, I’d be happy. The 2nd gives me Rayquaza vibes and the 3rd is my favorite. I love the colors and the art style feels otherworldly and alien.
Melmetal:
Now here’s a Pokemon I give 0 cares about. Forgot it was even a Pokemon. But the art is so gooooooood! The first gives me “The Snowman” book by Raymond Briggs vibes. Looks like it could have been inspired by Terminator. And the last one feels like it should be a promo or a full art with how gorgeous and rich the colors are!
Charizard:
Most of the arts felt generic but these 3 stood out the most. The 3rd is easily my favorite and is how I saw Charizard as a kid.
But if I had to choose only one. This Feraligator has my heart:
Honestly, unless they pick purposefully the worst ones, I don’t think we’ll be disappointed by the results!

Well… here’s my two entries for the contest. I didn’t get into the top 300 but I tried really hard on them, hopefully it shows.
Extremely disappointed in TPC judges for letting AI art not only into the contest in the first place, but picking them as winners (and letting someone submit twice under different names) lol.

This is going to end up with them having to implement some AI check for future years. Or I feel like it might hurt future occasions. I can definitely see some people be discouraged from submitting if they’re going to lose to someone who put a prompt into AI.

There is so much stunning and fantastical artwork and yet I cant wait to see what technically good but extremely boring artworks end up winning.
A few of the ones that stood out to the most, and a lot stood out to me.

There are a ton of good Absol and Feraligatr ones! Really excited to see other mediums get represented too (e.g. the needlefelted Bidoof and the embroidered Feraligatr). Also, the needlefelted Flygon from KarryBird that @dromanyte mentioned. If I have enough time one year, I’ll definitely try to throw in a submission.
@Versy and @cyberurchin Your works are absolutely beautiful! You two should be proud of what you made!

Sad my 2 Eevee’s didn’t make it into top 300, is there a prior round that I may have missed that might span a larger group or is this the first one publicized? Pretty bummed about the seeming domination of AI but I guess in the end it was more about the experience of participating and trying my best to make art than it was about winning - though the chance made it fun! This announcement going through means that any art not picked can be shared finally right?
