If a card only has 500 copies....

If a card only has a rumored printing of 500 cards… and there’s only 12 PSA graded in total (7 tens and 5 nines )… and its from 2004… and it has original art… Would it be considered a pseudo trophy card? (Try to guess the card  )

Also… Why does it only see for $100 in PSA 9?

Metang Stadium Challenge.

Pseudo trophy card… lol More like a glorified promo. It earns $100 because it’s scarce otherwise I’m sure it would struggle to do $5 raw and maybe $20 high grade. If there was an actual popular Pokemon or a great artwork on it, it would be a totally different story, but this card is just not appealing to me at all.

I’m almost positive that for it to be a trophy card it was to be awarded/ earned in some sort of a competition. It’s rarity doesn’t have anything to do with whether it’a trophy or not.

Distribution is what matters for pseudo trophies. I generally think of cards given out for tournament participation. I have to say though, the term “pseudo trophy” is ill-defined. I don’t think monetary value defines this category of cards. The term implies exclusivity but also is not defined by print run. I generally categorize these cards as “participation promos” meaning recipients didn’t win the event but attended and competed.
