Nice art however, it’s just not rare enough for me to care about

Edit; And don’t get me wrong. The card is beautiful, but I don’t love it or Umbreon enough to pay the premium. If I pulled on in a pack, I’d probably keep it for forever.

Traded a $300 card for a raw eng moonbreon, graded 10 and sold it for $750. Sad its over but glad it happened
I am a hipster that can’t enjoy any artwork if it’s not old or rare enough!
You can find me on pokeinveting. Peace

It’s not that anyone should be pulling up the pop report when they go to buy. It’s that because there are so many 10s, there will be competition for sellers for a lot longer into the future. If I’m the only one selling some item, I can set the price however I want, take offers or not, but in the end buyers have to come to me. If there’s 15 sellers all trying to offload the same item, that alone creates a race to the bottom because buyers are going to sort by cheapest a lot of the time.
I’m actually looking to pick up some of the Brilliant Stars V and VMAX featuring Karen. I always liked her as gen 2 E4 member, and I think trainer gallery sets will be the next thing to move up as SWSH rotates out and stocks empty at most large stores.

Or if there are 10k sellers looking to dump because Pokemon is currently so beyond inflated with the hype beast Logan Paul Gary vee “quit your day job and sell shiny cardboard” types it’s beyond comprehension.
I’m all for it if you like the card. But these people simply were not here for the last hype card. They don’t know what a Charizard shiny GX was like. Or a rainbow zard or any number of others. Betting on these types of people to hodl is like building your house on quicksand

Quitting a stable job to sell cardboard is insanity to me. I cannot fathom it. There’s no way I’d want to be selling millions of dollars of Pokemon a year to replace a professional career salary. That’s just the salary too, no benefits, and considering myself on the low end of “professional” careers.
Shiny vault charizard GX is a sweet card. I really like the charizard GX art in general. He’s got a good pose and the background doesn’t detract from the pokemon. The 151 ultra rare and Brilliant Stars are great too. At least to me, I like that style.
Nothing to like on that card, so I own zero and will never own any.

While I tend to agree with your overall sentiment that stability and benefits is worth sticking it out in a conventional career, I don’t think your characterization of selling collectibles as a “low end” career is particularly kind or true. People have made enormous amounts of money that would eclipse their previous salaries by many fold. They can gain access to insurance, retirement, etc. through private means and still have a fulfilling career.
Be mindful that you’re speaking to online and brick-and-mortar store owners, consigners, etc. on here.

I read it more as, even if you left a relatively low end job for the tcg world, the current landscape of streamer card seller boi would still be riskier than what you had before
Mmm, I’ll have to reread what I wrote. That’s not what I meant at all.
I am trying to say that if you are making 10% profit margins, then you need to be selling $1M+ product per year to match the salary alone of a low end professional career. That’s a huge store for collectibles. Even if the square footage isn’t large, it is a large time commitment and no doubt a full time job. Of course it’s definitely possible to do, I was trying to say that the volume of sales required to get people the same quality of life is very large. You’re not selling $80k/year of collectibles and taking home anywhere near $60k+.
This is in comparison to what is possible: i.e. being 22 years old with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and getting paid >$200k/yr to work a 40 hours job with no inventory stored in your house, risk of robbery/fire/flooding taking your livelihood, no employees to manage, etc. (That is not me either btw, I would consider such a career more on the “high end” of professional careers, probably only really below doctor/lawyer.)
Oh also in this case, “low end” meaning either/both lower paid career fields and entry level positions. It’s not meant to imply anything other than “the amount of money is low for professional careers.” There is nothing wrong with doing other jobs, but at least in our current global economy, career paths requiring bachelor’s degree+ education typically pay the most while taking the least toll on your body physically.

Unlike a lot of my friends who were burning out around evolving skies I was super hyped for the set - but mostly over rayquaza
I then pulled one Umbreon at release from a 3 pack blister from Best Buy and I was really happy with it but I remember telling myself that I wish it was rayquaza
Then over a year later I had a evolving skies booster box from release day collecting dust in my closet and I had a couple gin and tonics and opened it while hanging out with my little brother and pulled Umbreon again
Still no rayquaza though

Shows how big the hobby is when there are 10k copies and apparently next to no one on e4 has one.
I would imagine if they were in paper hands they’d be dumped already in this economy.

None. Too many unique items to collect in pokemon to spend money on something that a gazillion people have. If I was rich, I’d pick one up cause it is cool art,
