How do you protect yourself as a seller on Ebay?

Been selling since 2012 with 100% feedback.

  1. Sell honestly and mark condition appropriately. Air on the side of caution if unsure. I use Damaged, played, light play, near mint and near mint to mint for card conditions personally.

  2. Ship expensive items with signature tracking… helps make sure there is a proper item exchange.

  3. Have good communication with a buyer, especially after a sale. If they ask for a return, accept it and move on. Worse thing you can do is be rude and get negative feedback. EBay will side with the buyer, so don’t waste time trying to prove them wrong.

  4. Use the GSP for international sales. I use to ship international on my own, but this year alone I have had several packages go missing international. Use the GSP and eBay will only hold you responsible for making it to their shipping center.

  5. Ship all cards with some form of protection. I place cards in a penny sleeve, semi rigid, between cardboard and in bubble mailer. Bigger items may need a small box.

I don’t typically insure items because it is a waste of time. The USPS will rarely, if ever pay up and usually want a ridiculous amount of evidence. Has this ever burned me??? Not once in 8 years of selling. “Knock on wood”
Again, not sure it would help at all anyway. I have been told by postal workers that it would be a total waste of money.
