I didn’t pre-order or pick up any of the new set, but took a trip to my favourite card store in honour of the occasion. I chanced to ask about any stock whilst I was there, as it would have been fun to rip one or two packs. It was all gone, of course. I bought some WOTC for my binder, and left happy

My 30th went really well!
I pre-ordered some PC ETBs and a sticker thing. I opened the stick with my son and opened the ETBs in the closet after he went to bed. The Lord and I used to open up packs in the closet all the time and it was nice opening up packs and praying about what all was going on in my life. That being said I am pleasantly surprised with the hits 
More importantly though, I found out today that we’re having another boy! So excited for that as well.

I’ve had a lot of fun ignoring 30th, even tho there are things in the set I like, and just picking singles for my Dark City binder.

My PC order arrived just before I left for work. I couldn’t stand having to wait to open them so I got right into it. It was a fun experience, the set is enjoyable with good pull rates. My favourite part is the pikachu sub set; it adds an extra layer of excitement when you pull a new one. It’s interesting to see each illustrators style when you have 30 creating a card of the same pokemon with some iconic names in the mix. It’s been a while since I’ve put a master set or sub set together but the pikachus are already in a binder and I’ll be hunting for the last ones I need. It’s already enjoyable to stare at even with blank spots on the pages.

today a friend told me they had some product in stock in a big retail store and the prices weren’t that crazy (still above the mythical “msrp”) so I got a bit of fomo and I got etb + tin + poke box (one of each of all they had) and am waiting to see if my friends want to open together or I should open by myself. hoping its a nice experience to open otherwise, and then I’ll buy whatever singles later.
asked the lady in the store if its been very busy and she said since they opened this morning the only thing they’ve been doing is selling and restocking 30th, so demand has been crazy but they still had supply. this was in a mall and the store is a big retail franchise in this country and this is a 150k city btw

Popped out of work at lunch to check all of the closest stores in the city centre yesterday. Not a thing in any of them. Sold out signs everywhere, and some exhausted looking staff in a couple of places.
Can’t warrant the silly effort of hunting modern and can’t warrant the silly cost of vintage. The hobby is winning!

I got my 6 packs from my pc preorder today. Pulled the Drifloon IR which is my favorite in the gallery. I only collect Japanese now so these cards don’t really fit in my collection but it was fun to get to experience a taste of it near release.
After the slog of the last 2 years it was really refreshing.

Visited one of my LGS today during my lunch break to see if they had more 30th anniversary packs.
They did, but the Knockout boxes were $28 and regular ETBs were $170. Hopefully supply floods the market because this was a really fun set to open and I’d love to get more…just not at the current prices.

What it feels like sometimes! 
I only wanted a poster collection, or even a couple of loose packs from some ripped product as the LGS usually stocks would have done, but alas, not a sausage.

Sold out at the 7 am Target. Got to the 8 am Target and the line was just as long, but 1st Target was letting people buy 2 of everything, second Target was one of each item. I managed to get a poster box, booster box and a tin. Promo card ran out before I got to the front of the line.
Full Art Jirachi was the best pull, followed by N. The pikachu cards are really nice. I think I’m going to order some Chinese boxes, really want to open more
