Selling a ungraded card is a difficult one, as I am sure you will have realised now, everyone (and I mean, everyone) has an opinion on what grade it is, even I do! I’m probably inclined that it will get, at worst, a PSA7. Again, it is so subjectional to the grader, some cards come back better then expected, others not so much.
If you are to sell it, place a Buy It Now slightly around a price that is higher, and the worst you can do is not accept offers that you get in. There is always a buyer for cards, and the right person will definitely come, sometimes worth the wait.
Hope that helps. If I were you though (and if you are in a position to do so), I would seriously consider keeping it and grading it…the Crystal Zard is a magnificent piece. Cheers
Thank you very much for that. That is what I am planning on doing currently, though I set the price at a realistic point, since I already had a few days with the card listed at 1000+ buy it now, and didn’t get any offers close to that.
On the PSA topic, I will definitely consider it if the card doesn’t get any good offers in the next week or two, but I want to take my chances for now, because as I said in another reply, shipping internationally is extremely expensive for me, even a pretty much weightless card like this would cost me 35-50$ (I know, that is totally absurd) to ship to the states, and might take a long time, by which point (I’m hoping) I can sell the card for near the amount I would if the card got a PSA 7~. I might lose out if it’s actually an 8+, but I might also get unlucky and get a 6, so I would have to sell it for what I’m selling it for now anyway, and have wasted 40~$ shipping to PSA
Well that’s an idiotic statement. If you really feel that way maybe you belong with the dimwits on pokegyn or pokebeach.
There are three truths that the op needs to know.
You came to the right place. Our E4 members are amongst the most knowledgeable and generous people on the net.
It’s impossible to accurately pregrade a card based on pictures.
How do you know what “a good offer” is when you can’t even determine the condition?
Honestly, based on those pictures your card could land anywhere from an 8 on down. Pictures give a general idea but simply don’t show many types of damage that can determine the final grade, that can be seen in person.
Unless you’re desperate for money, send the card to our PSA e4 grading middleman and hope for the best;)
I know, I came here after seeing you recommend it on smprattes channel and say that I would get an answer in minutes rather than days Very true!
Yeah, I was just hoping to get a general idea - I know that even if the “consensus” is that it’s a 6-8 that doesn’t mean it can’t be a 5 as well. It just gives me a good starting point, to make sure I’m not completely off. I was guessing 6-8 as well, and just wanted an opinion from some people that have experience. For example, I saw a PSA 8 one on eBay, that had all types of whitening on the back, and what looked like a bent corner, so I thought it’s possible I should be pricing this way higher. Then I see another PSA 8, that looked nearly flawless to me. So I realised that I don’t know anything about this and should get some more opinions, if I am planning on selling it ungraded.
I actually am pretty desperate at the moment, that’s why I’m selling everything I can, but It would just feel horrible to sell it for 500$ if there’s a chance it could sell for a few hundred more.
PSA is increasingly looking like a good option, since I personally would never get an ungraded card (I bought this like 12 years ago, back before I even knew what PSA was), especially from an unknown seller. I will think about doing that some more, but I’m just afraid of paying all the shipping fees, and ending up with a PSA 6, having to sell it for pretty much the same price anyway.
Thanks for the advice, I hope you will be in some more videos in the future
I think out of the general consensus, is to decide first if you want to keep or sell the card, in the first place. It sounds like you are adamant on selling it, from the above conversations with our fellow members.
As widely discussed, anyone can slap a expected graded score on a raw card, but this is going to be inconsistent, as opinions get into play. Only until it is PSA graded, is when you can say “it is a PSA 6”, or whatever it grades.
So from that, you do have two options, if you were to sell it…
Sell it as it is, with a slightly higher ungraded price for it’s condition, and negotiate the offers you receive for it, or
Get it PSA Graded, with the additional fees/shipping to be graded. Arguably it is a nicer card once graded, and I dare say more valuable once it is, even it were to score a PSA6.
Nevertheless, it will always be a Crystal Charizard. The right person will buy, don’t worry about that
Thanks for the kind words brother. I’m glad you mentioned that my “plug” on Scott’s video got you here. All he ever did was laugh at me for plugging him lol.
Contact churlocker here on e4 and he’ll tell you the exact cost to grade and ship through his service. It will surely increase the value of your card and be worth it unless there’s hidden damage.
Thanks for all the help. Yes, I think I am convinced that it might be worth grading it, if I want to sell in a reasonable amount of time and also get a good deal.
I really want to keep it, but I actually need money right now, so I kind of feel irresponsible if I don’t.
Also, I was considering getting into the hobby anyway, and after seeing how awesome this community is over the past few days I think I will Hopefully I can use some of that money to get a PSA 10 card. I even already picked out the 1st edition Giovanni’s Nidoking, which is about 130$. It’s less rare, but I can’t really afford the Charizard right now. Maybe I can buy it back sometime lol
By the way, if you are from Europe you should go through Ludkins UK, you basically just need to fill the form and send your card, they will take care of the rest.
I also think selling it graded is better, if you have the time, because getting the card graded takes atleast 3 months from now.
But if you have the card graded, the buyer knows what he gets, ungraded card have always that risk factor that eats a chunk of the margin.
You should have no problem selling this card as is. I don’t think you’d be looking at much of a premium even if it was graded. It would just be much easier to sell.
By the way, cards don’t sell overnight. It might take a month or so getting the offer you want. Good luck.
Thanks, depending on what Ludkins says, I’m most likely going to not grade this specific card, but grade all the rest. I am really hoping to get this 600-800$ soon, but I can definitely wait with the rest. 3 months is pretty long, but It might raise the value of some of my cards from 10$ to like 70$, since a lot of them are pretty minty
But being realistic, the Zard will probably be about the same in the end.
