Bit of a long shot, but I’ve been trying to track down my childhood Pokemon binder collection I sold on eBay around October 2018.
It was a Platinum era Giratina binder, and the listing title was probably something very generic like “Pokemon binder collection” or “Pokemon collection vintage.”
I recently managed to recover some of the original listing photos (I’ve attached a couple below), but unfortunately my old eBay account/email are long gone so I can’t access the listing or buyer info anymore.
I’m mainly posting on the off chance that someone here might have bought it and still has it.
I do have additional photos of the binder contents, so I should be able to confirm if it’s the same one.
Appreciate any leads, even if it just looks vaguely familiar
I hate to be a negative Nancy, but if that was bought 8 years ago, whoever bought it graded the gradeable cards and sold off whatever raw cards they didn’t want.
It would be so cool if it was still in tact for you to get it back. I miss my childhood binder so much (thank you, aunt for throwing it out)
I would try whatever methods you can think of to recover your old eBay account to then access the buyer details. Without that, I’d say the odds of any successful lead would be slim.
Yea, my expectations are very low, although, I didn’t have any really expensive cards worth grading imo. The “best“ cards were some lvl X DP promos… and some regular DP era holos (no lvl X’s).
I tried to send a data request to ebay, but after a certain amount of years they delete the data associated to your deleted account… so it seems to be gone forever.
Yeah, it is unfortunate. This is a common theme with people in any collectable space. I’ve sold plenty of childhood things I later wished I hadn’t. But you can enjoy the process of rebuilding it!
The only other thing I could think of, is if possibly you purchased the shipping label for it through PayPal or something, and there was still a copy of the shipping label purchase in PayPal’s records. But similar to eBay, they probably purge that data too after a few years. Good luck to you with it!
Honestly no idea myself… the cards weren’t expensive back then… should have just kept it. I had fallen out of interest of the TCG specifically after 2015 or so… I played competitively locally (a little) for one year in 2014… in 2018 I was slowly planning on moving to a different country so I was selling a lot of my stuff that I didn’t feel I really needed.
This is actually a great idea… I kept a lot of the ebay shipping labels I made… might have to do a deep dive into them to see if I can find it! Thanks for the idea.
Ok so quick update. I did some more digging. The sale photos I took of my childhood binder were taken in 2022, not 2018. I then concurrently found a USPS ebay shipping label from 2022, with all the buyer’s info imaginable. I sent the ebay user a message… I’m sitting on the edge of my seat…. if he does reply probably will be dissapointment… but still… there’s a chance!
I gave my entire collection (except for three cards) away to my next door neighbor when we moved when I was in high school. Really wish I had kept it so I feel the pain.
oh absolutely. the two most expensive cards in my binder that I had were lv X promos. I just checked price checker and for ungraded they would total to max around 100 dollars, maybe a bit more if I included a 3rd holo DP promo I had (non lv X) in the calculation. The rest of the cards in my binder weren’t anything special monetary wise…
